President Karzai said he was pleased with the American military review of strategy, which focused on militant activity in the area. President Obama is planning on sending 4,000 troops to train Afghan security forces. Do you think this is wise? Is it a preliminary to declaring war? Or is it just what it is, a training mission? Is this a plan to the best way to reach bin Laden, as he is known to be hiding in the Afghan mountainous region?

You noticed that WHAT escaped me entirely Jim? That religious zealots have been killing each other for millenia in the eastern Mediterranean? That's old news dude. The new news is that the US was placed squarely into that irrational conflict by the neocons.

No promise broken as regards Afghanistan or Pakistan. He said that he would re-deploy to Afghanistan and that Pakistan's NW territories would be a drone missile target zone. Were you thinking of someone else ? I only ask because I don't recall you "jumping up and down" so-to-speak in here during his primary run. -- Edited by JimEarl at 11/21/2009 5:38 PM PST

I just don't know why O's strategists didn't think about this while WE were jumping up and down at the time. Yeah, like they really had a secret Afghan strategy to the Bush administration but left behind the promises to the people. *shakes head and walks away.* infoseek (D)

That seems to be the choice alright. War or healthcare......same as during the presidential campaign.

Shouldn't we be pushing the health care reform along? You know the longer the Republicans and some Democrats drag, the longer leverages they have over other things such as wars and other affairs. This is the reverse of inability to fight Iran because we're broke and fighting for our own survival.

Sherlock didn't write that Jim, a British poet named W.H. Auden wrote that back in like 1939. But I'm glad you got the point.

Rapid Creek, "Laws" were also pretty much by definition written for and applied to "legal combatants." Heard those terms before? Pirates? Point well taken. Who's the pirate? Now THERE'S the rub! Bin Laden or Bush/Cheney? Your answer betrays EVERYTHING! DaN
