Okay, I'd like to hear your best reasoning for voting McCain at this point in the campaign. What experiences does he bring to the presidency? What goals and values do you share with him? What's the defining moment that earned him your vote?

If the vote were between Obama and McCain, I vote McCain. I don't want another untested, ideologue in office. I had enough of that with Carter. Further, I don't want my taxes to go up. I would rather continue growing my workforce, growing total taxes rather than stifling them. If the vote were between Clinton and McCain, I think I might actually vote for Hillary, as she is probably more conservative than McCain. And frankly, wouldn't it just piss the middle east off to no end that they actually had to deal with an American woman? I think, that alone, should be the best reason any of us could use as justification for a vote for Hillary.

Gimme a break. How about: You never know when the Alzheimer's will kick in and turn him back into Ron Paul. I don't like his position on the War, but it's an improvement over Mr. President's. I mean, I don't want to win in Iraq, but I think McCain could win in Iraq. Because he would actually be trying to win instead of protracting it to maximize war profits and wait for someone else to take office. Don't get me wrong, I'm not thinking of voting for McCain, but a President who's actually served active duty might look real attractive in the general if we're still at war. I don't think the ageist jokes are going to keep people from taking him seriously.

Let me amend my previous post. Brain tumor, cancer, or massive injury might do it. Other than that...

I voted for him in the Florida primary. He was the best choice of all the Republicans. I respected that he had done military service and that as a POW, when he was offered repatriation because his father was an Admiral, he declined unless other POWs who had been held longer were also repatriated. I also respected that he had no radical positions I knew of, regarding gay marriage, etc. So I voted for him in the primary ONLY! I never had any intention whatever of voting for him to actually take any office higher than he already held. I think I would rather break my wrist.

Historically, McCain does not wallow in any particular ideology as W does. He has a history of taking a pragmatic approach to solving problems. He is, however, quite slow to recognize a problem. That said, he seems to be dancing to a different drum since the campaign began and it is difficult to know what we would get if he was elected. The picture he is now painting is more like W and less like an intelligent, pragmatic voice of reason in a sea of ideology.

There is nothing McCain could say, do, or promise that would make me vote for him, even if he had a great VP running mate, because the party matters more than the candidate. -- QTeela (Teela with a Q)
