The Washington Post reports that Dick Cheney is penning a memoir in which he will vent his frustration against GWB. Cheney is quoted as saying the statute of limitations has expired on many secrets. So, is this a come clean, yes he tried to hijack the US, or is this a see, if he hadn't wimped out, we'd be still in charge?

JF2, I'll have to look it up. It's been a while back. Might have been just an interview as well. DaN

DaN Yep, fealty to the MIC transcends party affiliation. My take is that largely because of his lack of military experience, Obama is putty in the hands of the Pentagon, where the life-long denizens of the MIC reside. He believes everything they tell him, he knows no better, and he doesn't want to rock the boat. And did not know/do not remember Bacevich being on Bill's show. The title Eats Shoots and Leaves is taken, so how about: The Slobfather? The Shootist? The Saga of Dugout Dick? Seriously, I can't remember a Vice President who had less of a public profile than Dick Cheney did. He very rarely went to the Senate and didn't take the lead on any policy initatives that Bush was trying to sell the public. He was active in pimping for conservative congressmen in private fund raising among the well heeled, and lobbied for the Iraq War and the use of torture against prisoners. Looking back on the 2000 RNC, I am sure that Bush Junior regrets offering Dick the VP spot.

JF2, Yep. He's the real deal. He's been on Charlie Rose, Bill Moyers, and Bill. It's the real military guys who turned on Bush/Cheney that really tell the tale. Thing is, I wonder how many serving now won't be questioning Obama soon enough as well (and Bacevich's critiques are really non-partisan, the miltary industrial complex is FAR bigger than mere party affiliation). DaN Thanks for the info on Andrew Bacevich. The titles of his various books provide a little insight into where he's at. A serious man. Did you see he has paid the ultimate sacrifice at Bush's altar? He lost his son in Iraq in '07

I think Cheney's book will be a study in fear and paranoia. Of course those on the right will lap it up, while cuddling with their guns. I think that Bush chose Cheney, partly because they knew they were going after Sadam for "Daddy's" sake no matter what. Cheney and he both had lots of money to make by waging that war and are STILL profiting from it. After all, they are both oil men to the hilt. Additionally, Rumsfeld, who speaks the same "End of Times" mantra that Bush does, knew that Cheney had the scruples of a snake and would be strong enough to lead Dubya around by the nose to do their bidding. They all think that God is a Republican and that He had spoken directly to them in Revalations and that they would "bring it on." As far as the Fox news ratings, I think we can correctly assume that one of the traits of liberals in general is an openess to listen to the "other side" in addition to a natural curiosity to know what the BS du jour being spoon fed to the RW is. That's why their ratings are as high as they are - they get audiences from both sides while the liberal outlets will never get the closed-minded, fear entrenched righties to even think about tuning in. (Unless you're Colbert, and they think he's serious!!) Also, I recently learned of a new drinking game from my college attending daughter. It's called the Fox News Game and the basic premise is that everytime the anchors/guests say something crazy, you have to take a shot. They obviously get plastered pretty quick!

Every time I try that....they just nibble once and then go back to swallowing the same original one deep throat style. This site isn't about proving me wrong on any of the issues or articles I bring up....it is just about insulting me. So I just have to wait until I hit the right nerve when discussing Obama....and the fish school bell rings and they all come a runnin' to get a lick of my lure. aaaaaaaaahhhhh.....

JF2, He's a retired Viewtnam era Westpoint Army Col who's now a professor of International Relations at Boston U and a prolific author and critic of the military industrial complex. Pretty much a younger and more highly decorated Chalmers Johnson. I'm listening to the Jeremy Scahill - Chuck Todd exchange again now. Chuck's spending all his time doing the shuck and dodge. DaN

No DaN, I'm not familiar with that guy. I used to read alot of books, but haven't been lately. Free I'm holding Obama to the same standards I held Bush or any of the rest of them over the years. If they would just honor their oath of office, I would be thrilled and satisfied. But they don't. Obamacain WAS the most accurate of the name game thing.
