YES!
Thank you Janeane Garofalo, and thank you Bill Maher for letting her do it.

Democrats need to keep one thing in mind. It is not McCain that boosted his own popularity with the voters and energized the Christian right wing base. His popularity ratings went up after he chose Palin as his running mate. Prior to that he was trailing in the polls. Unfortunately she is the one that they need to focus their attention on. The voters know that McCain is not only very elderly but has serious health issues as well. The odds are quite high that he will not outlive his term in office.

Someone hasn't compared what embryos of different species look like.

Protip: They are eerily similar from fish to mammals.

How can they? They didn't have anything-goes press conferences in the POW camp.

Seriously, McCain has taken every question already, including an impromptu interview about ED in the back of his cavalcade bus. Targeting McCain yields no ratings at all whatsoever.

It's like the editorialists have become the media, we're under pressure to target whatever will glean the most interest in the shortest period of time.

I thought both Rosanne Barr and Paul Begala were right on target when they both said the Democrats need to start ignoring Palin and start hitting McCain.

AND Bill's jokes about women are getting a tad old for this old crone.

The republicans displayed a shiny object (Palin) and Bill went for the bait. Bill, I thought you knew better. OK, granted she was the big news - BUT you are supposed to see thru the crap and get to the heart of the issue - which is - SHE is there as a sideshow. To attack her, not only are you making all the arguments that the republicans are making against Obama, but you are missing out on critical opportunities to go after McCain.
McCain's is so incredibly vulnerable, and there you go chasing the shiny object. I was so incredibly down after watching your show to see you fall for it. Between that, and Janeen's "Republican's are bad people" B.S., you really scored one for the republicans with this show...good work!!!

For quite a while I have thought that Bill's show should be renamed "Real Time with the Republicans", since they always take over every conversation on every show.

The Republican guest always, always interrupts anyone else who is speaking, speaks over the top of everyone else and in general tries to dominate the conversation which makes me wonder what they are so afraid of that they can't allow another to voice their opinions. Not to mention that it makes the conversation very hard to follow for the viewer.

For the first time I heard Bill take over control of his show and tell them to shut up. All I can say is it's about damned time!!!!!

There does come a time when good manners are not desirable. When one guest, due to their over blown sense of self importance, can't allow any of the other guests to voice their opinions and thoughts, without interrupting and talking over them, it's time to throw the good manners overboard and just be rude!

You finally grew some bullocks Bill.

I know, right? Why are they asking a veep hopeful about the Israel policy, she'd have to say 'whatever McCain says.'

I just watched the palin interview on 20/20. What the hell is Bill talking about? She did fine.

Regarding the Isreal question: this was the exact same exchange that Obama had with Oreilly last week. Obama just said "i'm not going to tip my hand" about three times in a row.

I've got a title for Obama's next book: "A funny thing happened on the way to my coronation"

Seriously. "Jesus was a community organizer?" Christ, since when does Bill Maher endorse Jesus?

None of the political critique makes any sense anymore unless you start with the assumption that them what's not us are the bad guys. On the Vice-Palin, inexperience is an inexcusable atrocity, but on Obama it's a sign of purity. On Obama, talking and arguing are just a sign he's smart. On Palin, it's a sign she knows how to talk trash at a hockey game.

I'm with Salman Rushdie, this whole race has gotten so personal and insulting, nobody's talking about the war anymore. Palin and McCain think it's necessary, and they won't even try to find a way to get us out. Obama isn't much better, with his "surge is working" crap, what the hell happened to his inner Democrat?

I'm sick of all the talk about how to "fix" the war in Iraq, its friggin' leg is broken, let's shoot it and move on to the next one, already!

Democrats, as people, are fundamentally more decent? Bill, I can't believe you would let a statement like that just fly!

I'm not voting for McCain, I'm not voting for Obama. I'm one of those crazy Ron Paul people who recognizes that there's nearly no difference between the two major parties. There's barely any difference between the two. It isn't an election, it's a charade.

Watching the last two episodes of Real Time has been like watching a liberal/Democrat pep rally. I won't be tuning in next week.

One more: The "bush doctrine", as described by cheney, is that if there is a 1% chance of a catastrophic attack (such as nuclear) the nation must respond pre-emptively.

What no one ever talks about is the "bush doctrine" has never been exercised. We invaded Afghanistan AFTER they harbored al qaeda in the wake of 9/11. We invaded Iraq many years AFTER they violated the cease fire agreement from the 1st gulf war. So Bush will leave office having never pre-emptively done anything.

Also, Jesus was not a community organizer. It is insulting to suggest he was a petty political animal.

Obama's community organizing amounted to rounding up votes to feed into the corrupt Daley political machine. Nothing more.
