Israel confirms cease fire

Israel confirmed that a cease fire with Hamas will begin Thursday. Will they be permanent? If they can come to a permanent peace accord what effect will that have on the entire Middle East situation and the terrorists organizations growth and hold on the area?

Good point, and an excellent example as to how minds are INDEED ethereal and not individual.

I was also going to make a smart remark about Bush and Cheney's minds as well, just to prove my "smartness," but soon enough realized the term didn't apply. My bad.

Cheers!

Oh yeah the Nobel committee. I'd almost forgotten.

They obviously weren't monitoring events closely.

JimEarl,

With our ethereal MINDS, where else?

Aren't we, as "Americans," the ultimate POSERS?

SO MUCH hot air, SO LITTLE substance. It's funny/sad all at once.

I couldn't remember having any Middle East brokering
creds lately and not in the promised land ever, lol.

So I'm thinking, "with whom ?"

JimEarl (my friend),

Quickly, I was pretty sure we didn't either. Credibility, like prestige, is easily lost, and hard regained. Not in THIS generation at least, if EVER. I'm betting on the latter.

We are a nation adrift, regardless of party.

It's not me that he has to impress. I'm not his
Cairo audience......I can't imagine that they are
positively impressed by the publicly aired and
losing pissing match with a lobbied up over-indulged
pipsqueak Likud pol that they've witnessed to date.

I think there might be differences with the Nobel
committee in Middle Easterners perceptions of
successful statesmanship here.....just a hunch.

And publicly giving up any playable cards before
publicly playing a bluff hand in said pissing match
does not strike me as a very sound "plan A". It
kind of makes me wonder how sound "plan B"
is or if they've put much thought into the need
for one.

So I've heard......I would count on at least $10 per
gallon for awhile and that should be an attention
getter alright. And if, once started, it requires a regime
change to finish it then I'm assuming that we will be
covering that part of it based on our respective records
at flawed regime changes so far.

Doesn't mean that I'm upbeat about our chances for
success in an Iranian one though and that's based on
the two much smaller ones that we're currently still
engaged in already as well as our past failed one
in Iran.

If I'm in the area, I would use this time to gain some chips. ;)

Yes, count the steps and you'll know I'm somewhat biased for gains but not big travesty.

Jim,

Yes. In the end only "they" can reconcile with each other, but that is very lame and dry.

Hey man, the President needs a little space on this so lets give it to him for now.

Lets just hope Israel won't request President Obama's intervention after they attack Iran. LOL.

The cost of a war with Iran will be very high, you know.

By god info,
I believe that is the best defense for President
Obama's handling of this that I've heard yet. I'll
have to consider it more when I'm fully awake to
see if I have an answer for it.....You really are a
democrat this week, lol.

I think President Obama's pragmatism will hit them somewhere down the line.

I think it's important to remember we need to let them find their own solutions and settle on what's acceptable to themselves. Condemn tortures and terror attacks are all we can do.

Power doesn't always dictate the outcome. It didn't work from Israel to Palestine and it also will not work from U.S. to Israel.

Jim,

I think President Obama is smart to have somewhat distanced himself from Netanyahu at the moment. The Americans are really bogged down and the Israeli ultra right wing isn't helping.
