Pelosi Invests in Iran Dick Morris and Eileen McGann Saturday, June 30, 2007 House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has disclosed that she holds stock valued at up to $15,000 in Alcatel-Lucent (formerly Alcatel SA), a company with extensive investments in Iran and Sudan ? nations that sponsor terrorism. The disclosure of Pelosi's holdings comes at the same time that legislation is making its way through the California legislature barring state pension fund managers from investing in companies, like Alcatel-Lucent, that do business with "terror-friendly" nations. According to Divestterror.org, a citizens group pushing a South Africa-style disinvestment program to discourage companies from doing business in terror countries, Alcatel-Lucent's investments in terror countries are so extensive that it is included on the organization's "dirty dozen" list of offending companies. The organization estimates that the company has invested upwards of $300 million in terror sponsoring nations during the past five years. According to Divestterror.org, Alcatel is aiding Iran's terrorist activities by providing state controlled companies with data transmission and switching network capabilities. "These contracts have reportedly included the provision of hardware, software, technologies, and training to Iranian companies." It is also installing an undersea telecommunications cable in Iran. Prior to his overthrow, Alcatel carried out major fiber optic products for dictator Saddam Hussein in Iraq, despite U.S. government warnings to the French company that the project could advance Iraqi military capabilities. Alcatel is currently "involved in similar telecommunications projects ranging from upgrading networks to the installation underwater fiber optic cables" in Sudan and Libya. Criticizing Alcatel, former House Armed Services Committee Chairman and current GOP presidential contender Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., expressed his worry over Alcatel's activities in a letter to President Bush. In it, he wrote, "I am concerned about potential transfers of technology or sensitive information to other countries with which Alcatel has business dealings, which have included Burma, China, Iran, North Korea, Sudan and Syria." Florida has passed, and its governor, Charlie Crist, has signed legislation to state pension funds to sell their equities in companies that do business with Iran, Syria, Sudan, or North Korea. Similar legislation has passed in Louisiana and is making its way through state legislatures in New York, New Jersey, Ohio and California. Missouri's state treasurer Sarah Steelman has implemented a disinvestment strategy administratively. For the Speaker of the House to own stock in such a company is a particular outrage. She should immediately sell her stock and call on all other members of Congress who hold stock in the company to do likewise. Only if we send a signal to these companies that their associations with Iran and other terrorist states comes at a huge price can we dissuade them from continued involvement. But if there is a massive selloff of their stock, company executives will feel the pinch in their salaries and bonuses. Iran is in serious economic trouble. Yesterday, it announced that it would have to ration gasoline ? this in a nation with the second largest proven oil reserves. But it can't get at its oil resources without massive foreign investment. As a result, government revenues from the energy industry have dropped from $55 billion in 2006 to a projected $44 billion in 2007. In a nation where 70 percent of the labor force is employed by the government, the costs in social instability of budget cuts militated by declining energy revenues could be formidable. Under such pressure, Iran may well have to curb its nuclear ambitions or face the prospect of overthrow by an enraged population. Mrs. Pelosi: Do your part! © NewsMax 2007

Today is not the day. First, there are three official levels of secrecy in U.S. Government documentation. The lowest is "confidential" (with the other two being "classified" and "top secret"). But, if it says " highly confidential" that still means it's not even critical enough to be listed at the medium level of secrecy. Bottom line: no story here. When you walk down the street you will, no doubt, step on some uranium. When you enrich it for medical, test equipment or reactor use, ect. it is logged into the NRC and a little warning sign is placed on the door. So you really don't need a map, all you have to do is look for a sign. Lastly, terrorists -- your bogeymen that haunt you at night, have no more ability to weaponize this material than you do. Which is to say not at all. Can't be done. -- Genius may have its limitations, but stupidity is not thus handicapped.

Accident my butt. Anything the Stalinist young man child can do to help his terrorist pals, he will do. U.S. Accidentally Leaks Map of Nuclear Sites Tuesday, June 2, 2009 8:50 PM Article Font Size A 266-page classified document detailing information about United States civilian nuclear sites and programs was accidentally made public by the federal government, The New York Times reported Tuesday. The document was discovered on Monday by an online newsletter that deals in federal secrecy issues. The document ? clearly labeled ?highly confidential? ? includes maps that identify where nuclear weapons fuel is stockpiled, though it contained no information about military nuclear operations, according to the Times. President Obama sent the document to Congress for review on May 5. The printing office then published it online. It was removed from the Government Printing Office Web site on Tuesday after inquiries from the Times. David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security, a group that tracks nuclear proliferation, told the Times that releasing information on nuclear fuels "can provide thieves or terrorists inside information that can help them seize the material." The Times had not determined how such a report could be leaked. On its cover, the document attributes its publication to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. But the committee?s spokeswoman told the newspaper it ?neither published it nor had control over its publication.? ?The document contains no military information about the nation?s stockpile of nuclear arms, or about the facilities and programs that guard such weapons,? the Times wrote. Instead, it?s an exhaustive listing of the sites that comprise the nation?s civilian nuclear complex, which includes nuclear reactors and highly sensitive sites at weapon laboratories. Steven Aftergood, a security expert at the Federation of American Scientists in Washington, revealed the existence of the document Monday in ?Secrecy News,? an electronic newsletter he publishes on the Web. Aftergood called the report ?a one-stop shop for information on U.S. nuclear programs.? © 2009 Newsmax. -- "Opinion of The Right" The #1 thread on the RT board, Again. Doctordog, a board legend. Get on her and stay on her. GOP to Pelosi: Come Clean on CIA Allegations Tuesday, June 2, 2009 7:31 PM Article Font Size House Minority Leader John Boehner put Speaker Nancy Pelosi on notice Tuesday that she has to answer for her claims that the CIA lied about her briefings on harsh interrogation. As Pelosi arrived back on Capitol Hill fresh off a trip to China, the Ohio Republican told reporters that the GOP intends to keep the pressure on Pelosi, who has denied being told the Bush administration was using harsh tactics such as waterboarding on terrorist masterminds like Abu Zubayda. "My colleagues and I are prepared to continue to press this issue until it is resolved," Boehner said, according to reports by Roll Call and Fox News. "It's as simple as that. It's not about anything other than the fact that the speaker made this outrageous statement." "Ten days ago, Speaker Pelosi not only refused to back up her accusations against her intelligence professionals, but she actually stood by her comments that they repeatedly lied to her," he said. " Now, the speaker gets regular briefings from our intelligence professionals today. Does she still believe they are lying to her?" Added Michigan Republican Pete Hoekstra, one of the leading House experts on intelligence matters: ?Given the damage to morale at the CIA following Speaker Pelosi´s still unsubstantiated claim, Republican leader John Boehner rightly called on the speaker to provide evidence for her claim -- a federal offense should it be true -- or apologize to the hard-working men and women of the agency primarily tasked with keeping our nation safe in the days and years after 9/11.? In a letter published on the American Chronicle Hoekstra wrote that the much-embattled CIA deserves to defend itself. A loss in morale among our nation?s spies could open the nation up to the same vulnerabilities it suffered prior to 9/11. ?Beyond a doubt, we would want to know, understand and put mechanisms in place to prevent the agency from wantonly lying to Congress if Speaker Pelosi has proof,? Hoekstra wrote. ?Yet no prominent Democrats have called for further inquiry into the speaker´s accusation, and everyone at the White House from the president to his spokesman is refusing to discuss the matter.? Despite a subsequent rebuttal from CIA Director Leon Panetta, Pelosi has continued to insist that she was never told that harsh interrogations were actually taking place. She says that officials only told her they were a possibility. Boehner said that accusing our nation?s premiere anti-terrorist experts of lying to damage her reputation is simply unacceptable. "Either offer proof that our intelligence professionals lied to her or she should retract that statement and offer an apology. And to date she's done neither. She's done nothing to address the damage that she's left by her unsupported accusations," he said. Boehner and other Republicans did not reveal what measures they may use to push Pelosi. But he insisted ominously: ?all options are on the table.? House Republicans attempted to pass a resolution that would have created a subcommittee on the House Intelligence panel to review Pelosi?s allegations that the CIA deliberately misled Congress during President George W. Bush?s first term. The proposal was defeated by a 172-252 vote on May 21, according to the Hill. "This is a matter that is serious and requires a bi-partisan organization to get the facts," Boehner said, later telling MSNBC: "I am disappointed House Democrats continue to stonewall this investigation and my hope is that the Speaker will step up and bring this issue to rest once and for all." It?s unclear, though, what Republicans can do with their small numbers to further press Pelosi. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer , D-MD, took offense to the GOP's resolution on the floor to investigate Pelosi after the May 21 vote. He said it was a "Republican tactic to distract the public from focusing on what was done what the justification for doing it (harsh interrogation) was." © 2009 Newsmax. -- "Opinion of The Right" The #1 thread on the RT board, Again.
