Fact 1: The Electoral College elects the president on the first Monday after the 2nd Wednesday in December. Your vote in November is just a suggestion of who to elect as president. Fact 2: Usually, the candidate who has the most votes from the people's suggestions is elected by the Electoral College, but not always. Gore had 500,000 more votes (or suggestions if you will) than Bush and was not elected president. Fact 3: The current presidental election looks like it is going to be as close a race as the last one. Bush had 271 electoral votes and Gore had 267. Who wants to go to the polls again this year under the Electoral College system? I am sure no one does, but yet everyone is only talking about the candidates when they should first be talking about getting a vote that counts no matter what and then focus on the candidates!

To save money & the public: Make the campaign last only 6 months (enough). Elect president by papular vote. Use thumb prints as proof of right to vote. Stop income tax on social security except for people who earn over $100,000. per year. Stop having a co-pay that only applys to meds on "the aproved list". (Why do the doctors prescribe meds that will do the best job for people instead of only those on "the list"? Why not talk to Mexico's President and see why there aren't jobs for HIS citizens in his own country? All I hear is, they (undocumented illegals) only come for jobs to support their families. Why do we have to pay the oil rich countries to re-build their war- torn countries?

Sexist Comments about Hillary

Some idiot male political analyst on CNN said that if Hillary is president Bill will "reign her in". I think this is an incredibly sexist comment and is totally unacceptable. Why are some men so insecure and so threatened by powerful women? Do you think they have little tiny penises?

Is it me or is the "Status Quo" getting nervous about Obama ? I've voted Repulican & I think he is doing awesome things to the political process ! The most engaging "Match Up" Obama vs Romney/Huckabee would restore Public Trust, in my opinion. Not canidates with hidden agenda's ! ! ! ! ! McCain = Defense Contractors Clinton = Organized Labor Spin On SPINNERS ! ! ! ! ! !

POINT 1: The core of all discussions on money with my Republican friends is that "Taxes take my money that I worked hard for" and "we don't want our money going to 'those' people." you know the undesirables. POINT 2: The public is so stupid they cannot grasp the points that 1. If the central theme of taxation is that it reduces our purchasing power and 2. Non taxation economic factors reduce our purchasing power and A. High Gasoline Prices B. Less Bang For The Buck in Insurance Premiums C. Higher Drug Costs PPOs and HMOs can negotiate drug prices but Medicare cannot) D. Higher costs for food E. Fuel surcharges on utility bills F. As those with the muchoies know, a 99 cent bag of potato chips costs $3.29 in Kroger now. 3. Money spent in New Orleans (to those who don't deserve it) are spent in the USA. The money recirculates in the USA. Even tobacco and alcohol money stays in the USA (unless the winos have switched to Pouilly Fuisse or Stolie) 4. Money spent overseas migrates to Dubai (Haliburton), political hacks or warlords 5. Some ends up in the religious coffers as tithes etc and may be recirculated to the real undesirables. For a bunch of people claiming to be college educated, I wish I had the Sleep Number concession on pillows in ECONOMICS class. Maybe we should spend the money here in the USA on education in economics or maybe English, so we don't end sentences in prepositions. *See Point 1)

Bill and guests, it is time to ask this question what do people see in OBAMA? I am a resident of the state of Illinois which because of him should be renamed to the state of confusion. This man in 2 years as a paid senator has done nothing for this state. Our taxes have gone up retail and real estate, the government has become more corrupt, and all I hear is OBAMA for CHange. This clown needs to change himself first then worry about running a country. No experience and he thinks he can lead ? I have vote for 20 years and can tell you he blows more sunshine up the perverbial butt than any other politician. FIX WHAT YOU BROKE IN ILLINOIS Are people that stupid that they do not look at his background? OBAMA = LINING HIS OWN POCKETS just like his real estate transactions.

Why is it that candidates with major grassroots support (i.e. Ron Paul) dont gain any respect in the media coverage of the campaigns? Do the media, and the corporations that run them, have too much control in our electoral process?

QUESTIONS: Why do not the candidates tie the recession into inflation and stop acting like recessions are like baby bunnies and just pop up. COMMENT: If it is the economy stupid, then the point should be made to all Americans that historically wars are paid for with cheaper dollars (inflation or taxes) if we avoid the taxes then the inflation pays. This is really an insidious tax that reduces purchasing power

Hi Bill, Do you find it odd that Britney Spears gets more news coverage than Ron Paul? I am not talking about on local news I am talking about stations who are 90% political news stations.

Which of the DEM candidates will act to free science from the tyranny of the religious right and the corporations? I heard Arkansas Mike say he would change the constitution to reflect his religious beliefs, would he also change science textbooks in the same way?

Due to the fact that this is a contested primary I would be disappointed with either candidate to do so.

What should each American adult (not retired) expect to sacrifice in order to balance the budget? Or am I mistaken to believe that a balanced budget is essential before discussing any form of the proposed changes offered by candidates from either party?

Super Delegates? Re: Overtime: 02/08/08

Aren't the "super delegates" really just the mechanism to bring back the smoke-filled room method of selecting candidates? If it came down to it, would the DNC powers that be choose Clinton or Obama? -- SusanSFH Visit my Bill Maher Fan lens on Squidoo at http://www.squidoo.com/bill_maher_fan
