why does the media call Barack Obama "the first black president"? He is not black, he is biracial. He was raised by his white mother and white grandparents. He barely knew his father, which is the only thing black about Obama.

I think it needs to be pointed about about the possible voter fraud with Acorn that some people sent in a bunch of fake voter registration forms to Acorn and Acorn had already set them aside to be turned over to election officials. So Acorn didnt necessarily do anything wrong.

if violent acts are committed or attempted by McCain/Palin supporters against Obama supporters or Obama/Biden or their staff, could and should Mcain/Palin be prosecuted under incite to violence laws?

QUESTION FOR ALL:
Seriously, can we just admit this is a race for VP? McCain is older than dirt and, hey, I live in the south... I know the threats that will go after Obama. I hate to say it, but a hanging chad will put Palin at the big red button and we're SCREWED!

Hi Bill
With the Wall Street meltdown in full effect, why do you think it is that Obama hasn't been bringing up McCain's support in 2005 for the privatization of Social Security? It seems to me that this whole mess would be a lot worse if the Republicans had passed Social Security privatization, and U.S. workers had been investing even more of their wages into the stock market over the last 3 years.

If Barack's association to Bill Ares is considered unpatriotic, then what would the May 4th massacre or Kent State massacre that happened in 1970 be compared to?
Both took place due to the Vietnam war. However, the national government tried to suppress the constitutional rights of its citizens, mainly the first Amendment. How is what Ares did so unpatriotic and terrorist-like when the Government itself tried to deny people the very rights that define patriotism?

A neighbor in Richmond VA put an Obama bumper sticker on her car and a man showed up and made a threatening gesture. Running his finger across his neck. She was so upset she removed the sticker. I urged her to call the police. Isn't this both a civil rights violation and a felony death threat?

Bill and panel,
How is it that McCain states that he will continue these wars and also go through with his other plans (ie. social security reform, $5000 healthcare rebate, and buying back bad loans)? How can people truly believe that he will not raise taxes or hurt us in some other way (ie. taxing health insurance, cutting medicare, cutting education)?

Not a question, but an anecdote that a friend from Texas sent me:
While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, a doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President.
The old rancher said, ?Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.?
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.
The old rancher said, ?When you?re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that?s a post turtle.?
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor?s face, so he continued to explain.
?You know she didn?t get up there by herself, she doesn?t belong up there, she doesn?t know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put her up there to begin with.?

I lived in Oakland in 2001 - 2002, and I wanted to thank Maxine Waters for speaking out against the (then) proposed preemptive strike against Iraq. She showed great courage, and I was so proud that I e-mailed her a letter of encouragement, the only time I've ever actually written to an elected official. Thanks again Maxine, I love you.
