I think these are horrible acts, but to imply that an off the cuff remark with an offensensive word made by Bill Maher has anything to do with such acts is dispicable on your part. Just so you know I share your outrage with the passage of Prop 8 and have expressed my indignation with many publicly. -- Edited by oilgatsam at 11/14/2008 11:43 PM PST

I posted my earlier comment at the beginning of the show aired at 8 est. I must admit that you were not quite as coarse as you have been at times. I do understand that you are a "comedian" primarily. Your objective is not to really uplift the public educationally or culturally. Nevertheless, I did try to challenge you. I always find it interesting that you and your guests presume to speak as if you know or have any real understanding of the bible. I am an ordained clergyman who earned an M.A. degree in theology. The seminary I went to trained us in (among other things) something called hermeneutics which seeks to translate biblical meaning meant for one culture and time for an entirely different culture and time (i.e., ours). Need I say it: none of you people have a clue to proper or acceptable interpretation of the bible. In fact, there is considerable disagreement among biblical scholars (or churches, for that matter) on precise meanings. For example, an American Episcopal bishop openly declared that he was gay and this caused a schism in the American Episcopal church as well as the separation of millions of Anglicans worldwide from this wing of the American Episcopal church. Lastly, while I strongly disagree with the equation of so called gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transsexual preference with the African American struggle for civil rights, I believe their success will be long delayed if they insist on calling their union "marriage" instead of civil union (with all the same rights as heterosexual couples, i.e., marriages). My nineteen year old son disagrees with me! This demonstrates that America is incredibly tolerant on this issue, and that they will probably be successful in achieving their objective (but only in certain states which will slowly grow in numbers). -- Edited by ChaplainD at 11/14/2008 11:43 PM PST -- Edited by ChaplainD at 11/14/2008 11:45 PM PST -- Edited by ChaplainD at 11/14/2008 11:48 PM PST -- Edited by ChaplainD at 11/14/2008 11:49 PM PST

mensa, LGBT I suspect are not beaten cause they are gay, I suspect they walk around the streets completely unprotected, aka easy prey. even straight people know enough either be in numbers or have something to defend yourself with. there are many straight people who learn this the hard way.

A common theist argument, which speaks nothing of evolution. Evolution doesn't attempt to explain that. It only explains how it evolved once it was here; from simple organisms to present day.

I must have misunderstood you when you said you could prove that evolution is God's doing. My mistake

Oh and just so we are clear, the Theory of evolution is under debate here not evolution itself, which is a fact. *Life appeared on earth more than two billion years ago; *Life forms have changed and diversified over life's history; *Species are related via common descent from one or a few common ancestors; *Natural selection is a significant factor affecting how species change. Besides the theory, there is the fact of evolution, the observation that life has changed greatly over time. The fact of evolution was recognized even before Darwin's theory. The theory of evolution explains the fact.

> Cyplema. > > LGBT are hunted down and KILLED only because they are > queer > > so you can also STFU > what the fuck do you know about what queers face out > on the street? mensa, I'll admit to being a homophobe to some degree. Just part of my upbringing, ingrained in me from childhood. But the things some of these people do to gays is downright atrocious, something I'd never consider doing to another human being for any reason. I can't relate, but I do sympathize.

> Cyplema. > > LGBT are hunted down and KILLED only because they are > queer > > so you can also STFU > what the fuck do you know about what queers face out > on the street? honestly I don't know, but I also know that I don't know if anybody I work with is gay or not and I don't care if they are or not. I do know that the way gay people were being violent with people earlier this week cause they lost their legal marriage law which was is wrong for them to be. I guess they may want to move the way the religious people had to move out when they were prosecuted. or they can learn to catch the murders and have them arrested. -- Edited by Cyplesma at 11/14/2008 11:31 PM PST

> Oh.. that was a general statement, since all the > religious texts are not based on evidence. Therefore > trying to explain the origins of the Universe with > faith is irrelevant. Just like the Morman faith and > Scientology were written by a man with no more > knowledge about the Universe than you or I have so > were the bible, koran, etc... okay I see I asked cause I in reading both of the latter books mention the Bible and the Qur'an and from my research have not found any contradictiction to science just mis interpretation and misunderstand from language to language yes, of the limited word and knowledge used then and now Now on Mormons and sciencetology I am clueless. I have a Mormons holy book but found it too as you say man made to follow. (at least for me) anyway thanks for the response
