Okay Bill..time for you to get a reality check. I have been a fan of yours for years, saw you live, always admired your chutzpah, but you stepped over the line when you thought the violence committed by those bitches was acceptable. As a parent of a teenage girl who was accosted by a jealous bitch and if not for the intervention of her friend, may have been seriously hurt, you owe me and anyone like me, a HUGE apology. You have made me so angry that I may write to HBO with a complaint. Just like you bitch about married people, which you know nothing about, now you are talk about kids, which you alos know nothiong about, saying it is alright for girls to bully and gang up on on and send her to the hospital..so..do you think the shootings at schools are also funny?. How about your bitch mother getting beat up by a couple neighbor women, now THAT would be funny to others, according to you. We parents have to send our kids out into the world, worry about them, and try to protect them the best we can, and we have crazies like you condoning beatings because you think they were funny, you sadistical bastard. How DARE you, if you ever get the balls enough to become a parent, we will see how funny you think violence between kids is....when it is YOUR child on the end of a fist.........I may never be able to watch you again, you punk ass bastard. Michele.

Intersting fact: Dr. Phil posted bail for the leader of the cheerleaders who beat up that girl. Now that story is interesting: Dr. Phil, once again meddling with others affairs for personal gain. What a crazy bastard. Dr. Phil, what will you scheme up next?

Well, I will respectfully disagree that agnosticism is an uneducated choice. Just as a factual statement, I have been educated both in "christian" school and in philosophy -- and i am agnostic, so your statment is therefore false. I agree that religion is a product of human creativity, one of our greatest creations. But that doesn't make it true. Actually, since God, if He exists, is unknowable, then how can anyone claim exclusive knowledge about him? I would say that agnosticism is the only thing that acknowledges this room for mystery - in religion and science. Whether you lean towards faith or not, is up to you. But you can't say that these old religions are true. They just aren't (many scientific studies have shown so, as well as common sense). That said, even the most hardcore atheist has moments of doubt just like the most fervent christian or muslim has doubts. Why? Because we don't know and can't know. The best idea is to figure out the best way to live on earth. I would say the best is Jeremy Bentham's priciple of a hedonistic calculus: basically trying to reduce suffering for the greatest amount of people and increase pleasure for the greatest amount of people. Oh, and as for the cheerleader incident: WHO CARES. Our culture tends to value the life of good looking people more than non-good looking people for some reason. That is why this shocks us so much. This story sounds like something played over and over on Fox News to distract the country from real issues. "Bill Maher is smug" -- that's just what dumb people say to stop themselves from thinking what he is saying. It's like when people say that Michael Moore is fat. It's like, so? What do you think about what he said? -- Edited by BamaRock at 04/12/2008 4:18 PM PDT

Nice to see that this board is such an open forum that all criticism is promptly removed-- and even comments that were nice and benign. As for the initial invective toward Bill, there have been far worse things said on this board, and besides Bill is a big boy. Bill spews far more vitriol toward others on a weekly basis- he can take it. Your censorship makes the folks that ran the Watergate operation look like saints comparatively. Evidently, the totally PC nonsense that is sold here and elsewhere as "politically incorrect" is simply incorrect ... arguments so weak their owners refuse to even try to defend them. My citation of a mentality among certain individuals here as less than a 5-year-old was way too kind. Simply put, they can dish it, but just can't take it. Enjoy the censorship!

He had to have been kidding. Condoning aggravated felony battery because of the age of the felons, opens a whole world of acceptable behavior on the grounds that kids will be kids, including but not limited to robbery, murder, arson, etc., and employment as hitmen.

I think agnosticism in an uneducated choice. It fails to recognize the meaning of what it means to say that one knows something. santa claus and the tooth fairy are equally deserving, then, of the " maybe they exist category". Descriptions of what it takes to say "I know or believe the following" are impressive, moving, and celebrate human creativity, thought, work, and brilliance ofttimes, as well as humble, as there is the tacit understanding, that that statement is always subject to modification and disproof. Agnosticism demeans and ignores the remarkable characteristics of human beings.

Teenage Beating: I am a huge fan of Bill's BUT feel that he was completely wrong and out of control re this subject. The beating (brutal) by 5 young girls of this girl was disgusting behavior and each of them should be EXPELLED from school and prosecuted. Their respective parents also need to have consultation. To condone such activity is not the answer. To suggest this was just a after school every day event is also wrong and worrisome as this kind of violent behavior is 100% unacceptable. Violence at this level can not be tolerated period!

Nine out of ten times I agree with what Bill has to say on the topics that he brings up, but when Bill went off the rails tonight and said how "hilarious (?)" the sight of a girl getting beaten by a group of girls was I was completely taken aback. What the hell are you thinking Bill? This girl is getting brutalized by all of these girls supposedly after she was initially beaten unconscious and dragged out to be beaten some more and held against her will. At the risk of sounding like a right wing whack job, what the hell is difference between senselessly beating a girl senseless, and waterboarding a terrorist? You might think differently of the situation if it were you who was being physically assaulted by those who have a complaint about the things you say. C'mon Bill, get real........
