Why is it that Obama - "The Racist", Clinton - "The Facist", and McCain - "The Democrat", seem to think people who are stupid and lazy deserve to be compensated by having the IRS steal the earnings of productive people in America and hand it to the losers in America? It makes no sense. It is why America is failing. Big goverment rewards the stupidest and laziest in American society by stealing money earned by a constantly shrinking productive class.... We do need a revolution here in America, and that revolution needs to mimic the conditions we had here when America seperated from Great Britain.... No safety net for lazy stupid people, unless a non-governmental sponsor provided that support.... Sure, the laziest and stupid would suffer.....so? They deserve to suffer.....for holding society back and stifling innovation....

Bill, Always enjoy you and your show, but PLEASE...do you have to have that Conservative bimbo Amy Holmes on. She has the dazed, self-rightous, empty eyed look of all Nazi Republicans. Ms. Lee was doing a good job of tearing her up one side and down the other, you should have gotten out of the middle, and let her finish. Another note, I usually agree with most of what you say, but I disagree, the continued fight between Obama and the White Witch, is NOT good for the party as it keeps the Democrats foucused on each other, not the dinosaur McCain. I will tell you why despite the horrendous shape of this country under Republican rule, Granpa Munster is holding his own, because, as I see everyday in my businees dealings and everyday life, just about 1 out of anywhere from 2 to 4, people, are friggin stupid!!! Everyday I put up with ineptness and lack of professionlism by so many I run into, that when I do run into one who has a brain, it seems like an exception. By stupid I mean, uniformed, lazy, no real work ethic, insensitive, selfish, bigoted, etc. There are enough bigots in this country that despite the exceptional quailties of Obama, he may not get elected, Clinton to me is just like McCain, phony, SO rich, way richer than Obama, that she could never really indentify with the middle class, and over the last few weeks, her and Billie Boy have proven to me, they don't care about this country, or it's people, they are blinded by their own hunt for glory, and have shown to be phony, insensitive, and only out for their own selfish interests. How dare they attack Bill Richardson for following his own heart, I would NEVER vote for her. Anyhow, again, Handsome Bill, no more of that Holmes creature, she is one of the reasons I stopped watching CNN, I think thay have a hiring clause for women there that you must have an ugly mouth and/or irritating way of speaking to get hired. Othe than Suzanne Malvueax, and even Cathy Crowley, those bitches over there are horrible!!! How in the HELL did someone like Campbell Brown get on tv. I now watch your pal Chris Matthews and MSNBC. Though I don;t like Republicans, I give credit for Mr. Specter in speaking out on how to keep in the fight and never give up a battle for your health. He was very positive and sent a good message to others like him, I think you were a tad too dimissive of what he was trying to say Bill, quit always bringing the discussion back to medical marijuana will you, there is more to life than smoking pot. Still love you, but like a wife, sometimes feel the need to slap you upside the head. Michele.

> This is my question: What exactly did > Dr. Marthin Luther King do??? I have had this > arguement with a lot of people and no one can tell me > anything! It does not matter what your ethnicity is, it is a valid question from any American since we take a day to celebrate the life of Dr. King every year. And like Columbus Day until you understand the reason for the honor it's just another day off work. To understand Dr. King's impact, imagine if Ms. Clinton, Mr. Obama, or Mr. McCain were to call for the impeachment of George Bush for the lies that put us into Iraq. In the present political climate, to say any one of them would be unpopular would be a gross understatement. Dr. King's tireless crusade against injustice, inequality, and the ideology of war in this country was tantamount to such a declaration. So, especially if you were not born during the era in which Dr. King lived or lived during the time that followed, it is difficult sometimes to understand that he was more than speeches, that he was a man of action who inspired others and helped them to action for the good of all Americans not just black Americans, especially the poor and disenfranchised of America. At the same time, Dr. King was a man with all the foibles that embodies, he was no saint but he was a man who tried to do the right thing; he tried to bring good into the world, to give hope to people. Dr. King promoted the idea and ideals of peace and equality of all men at great peril to himself and (more importantly) his family whom he loved. Further, he promoted change through non-violent action, something our government today cannot seem to do (i.e., Iraq). Dr. King was like the concious of our country. Through his action he came to make America realize that saying you are sorry for the evils of the past is not enough, action IS required to right those wrongs and EVERYONE is responsible for righting the evils of the past. Dr. King showed how to do that through non-violent actions which lead to a more lasting change because the means is through peaceful action; in other words, right begets right. Dr. King demonstrated actively; like a general in a battle, he did not ask anyone to do anything that he was not willing and did not do himself. He walked, he went to jail, he was beaten, he met with the leaders of this country who could effect change, he was under surveillance by the FBI and the CIA. He spoke out against unjust wars, unjust government policies, even when it meant that he lost the support and respect of long time friends and allies. Had he lived we would have had a voice that refused to be silenced. A voice that would speak against the policies of the Bush Administration, the Iraq "War". A voice that would have carried credibility and caused citizens to listen and respond, even through the cloud of their own fear perpetuated by those people Dr. King would have had the courage to put on the carpet and call to account for their actions. Frequently, what the average citizen of this country needs is someone who is willing to stand up and speak for right and speak for the dignity of people even when they know they may be literally shot down (i.e. killed) for just speaking the truth. Such people give the average citizen the courage to act and add their voice for what is right. At the fundamental core of our US Constitution is the protection of the individual from the group; the protection of the individual's dignity as a human being (not an animal) and the individual's right to think and speak as she or he wishes and to act as they see fit as long as those action's do not impinge the rights of another. But always to think and speak as he or she wishes. That our Constitution embodies such principles is amazing considering that many of the framers were actually going against the actions of their daily lives in espousing such ideals (Jefferson and Washington come to mind in particular). When Dr. King came on the scene there were many people who denied those right to a group of the populace (believe it or not besides denying these rights to blacks they were also denied to the poor of this country the majority of whom were white). Dr. King was the first to acknowledge that he stood on the shoulders of the people who came before him. His abilities as a leader, however, enabled Dr. King to place the debate out in the open and before the national concious in a way that gave hope, even to those who were scared and resentful. Dr. King pushed forward the national debate and brought it onto not only into the concious of white and black middle America who preferred to ignore the issue by supporting a "comfortable" status quo, but also to the concious of the world. Dr. King endured the wrath of many prominent and ordinary black citizens as well as white in pursuing his slow and painstaking leadership of change for the country by nonviolent means. Because he would not be silent on the Vietnam war, the economics of the country, he was basically "a voice crying in the wilderness". I wish we had more Congressional leaders today who were willing to denounce the unethical and illegal actions of their own members and such action of our government in the manner and with the integrity that Dr. King did. You would do well to read the complete speeches of Dr. King; they will give you a feel for the depth of the issues Dr. King attempted to address during his lifetime and will give you a measure of how he struggled with the path he chose. Also, there are several good biographies; you should check with your local librarian. Not to be critical (because I asked the same question you ask to myself), once you read up on Dr. King from various sources and read his speeches (some are not easy reading if you ask me) you will begin to get the measure of the man and what we lost when he died. He did leave a blueprint for all of us, however, and I believe that you will get a better since of how much richer the US and the world is because he lived, too. -- == Support freeware developers ==

"... of the People, by the People, for the People..." how can we make this true today? I think that's a fair question to ask after such a lively evening (and early morning) of correspondence between such interesting people who actually appear to care about what is going on around them in this country of ours.

Oh Well, Sleep is overrated..The tax comment by Amy and Bill about the amount the top 10% pay in taxes is true, but they make 48% of the money in 2005 tax records. That was the top 10% greatest share of the pie since 1929, just before the great depression. Also, they failed to mention the top 300,000 money makers in 2005 made as much money as the 150 million who make up the lower half of the population..Add the income the rich don't have to report means they made way more.. What you say demtrem makes sense to me. I only wish the last part of what you said would come to be a reality... the investigations and such, but I believe so much of the mess we have gotten into since Gore not being allowed his rightful place resulted in such a pivotal event for our country's reputation and reality in what has now become a great big ugly mess that will take many miracles to overcome leaving us any chance of thriving as a country that listens and responds to the people as was originally intended from what I can tell... an example of good leadership and hopeful living for it's citizens for others to respect again... a place where the people/the environment and all of the needs we really have can be salvaged. We cannot take the last eight years back, and I am not saying by any means that's when the "trouble" began. However, I am very afraid of how the last eight years events will ever be ones we can overcome in our lifetimes if ever.

None you are right on... I am a USMC Vet, as I said, and I am a democrat, liberal, and progressive whatever they want to call me. You know how angry it made me when "W' and his draft dodging buddies, talking heads, etc. insinuated I was unpatriotic because I was against the Iraq war, and a democrat.. I better "cool it", and go to bed before the anger keeps me up all night..

I'm not saying this is the case, but even here in America there are a lot of empty trailers running around at any one time. That truck next to you on the freeway doesn't necessarily have a load in it. This is coming from a trucker who has pulled his fair share of mt's. But to be fair, the government oughta be maximizing the amount of loaded trailers there are. It's not like there's big competition for them.

Bush has "kept up a good facade"... are you joking, and I just didn't get that I wasn't to take that statement literally? Much of what I call the facade has been damage control by staffers and power plays on the media. But Bush more than anything else has just stood before Congress and the American people and lied his ass off and gotten away with it with impunity. More than anything Bush had kept his ass out of the poky because of who is sitting in the second chair. That plus they didn?t have nearly the votes to get the job done. Dems in Congress are not going to ever allow Chaney in the driver seat. They know he is too shrewd and crooked. There will likely be many investigations and hopefully prosecutions after Bush is out and there is no danger of turning our country over to a fascist pig like Chaney.

I agree that Holmes is out of touch with reality. The fact is that if sex education was the sole responsibility of the parents, we wouldn't have such a large problem with teen pregnancy. The idea is a good idea, but not in reality, because lets face it, not every child has the blessing of a good parent. Think about it, if we had such exemplarary citizens or parents, we wouldn't have a lot of the problems that we do. Given that not all crimes are caused by parenting or the lack their of. Now sex education coupled with parental guidance will help a lot more than what we are currently doing.

I am helping 60+ year old veteran of vietnam recover from alcoholism, who still has PST and trouble sleeping..We stick together. I feel for these soldiers today having to do 2, 3, 4 "tours" in Iraq. They are going to need psycological help, also. Some are already living under bridges.. Always like the word "tour"--like its some sort of vacation!

The more I see of this kind of thing the more I feel that anyone claiming to be republican or talking about voting republican if their democratic candidate doesn't get the nomination, is just an idiot!

Bill on Pomposity! Sometimes he is so full of himself. He can't really believe all the bull crap he says. What I want to know, does he kiss Obama's ass with that mouth? I kid, I kid!. Don't scrub my post again. I am smart enough to copy it -- A great change is at hand, and our task, our obligation, is to make that revolution, that change, peaceful and constructive for ALL. Former President John F. Kennedy, televised address, June 11, 1963. Five months before he was assassinated.
