I have a question for the future presidential candidates. Concerning Afghanistan. As we now move more troops into Afghanistan, and the Taliban is stronger, how will we control the American Troops?
When we are just beginning to go into the parts of Afghanistan, with troops, that still live the same as they lived 500 years ago; where 85percent of the world's poppy /heroine supply comes from;and they've never seen a light bulb. My friends are dealing with their kids and hukka pipes. That has trickled over from the culture. What are we in for and how will we control our troops from the temptation to use, sell and enjoy the opium and heroine? What controls are in place? This could have the opposite effect. It could open trade even more once we open the roads to of the world to their doors. Their Government is corrupt. Pakistan is out of control and harboring terrorists. Troops continuing in that part of the world will just result in more killing and more destruction of our own culture and youth. What will either of the candidates do to curb the side effects of what it will do to our own culture.?

John McCain's only argument seems to be the experience factor while his resume is totally lacking. He talks about experience; well, everyone experience something all the time; the question is what is McCain's experience that would qualify him to be president. Is it just because he is old therefore had more time to have more experience? For me, experience is most valuable when you learn from it. I think Barack Obama's experience is better because Barack Obama is modern while John McCain has an ancient prospective. Barack Obama is 21st Century while John McCain is stuck in the 20th century. Barak Obama ran a superb campaign while John McCain couldn't answer a simple yes or no question: men can get Viagra on Medicare, don't you think that women should be able get birth control pill on Medicare? It seemed to me that because he did not consult or rehearse with his mentor's, he went into excruciating pain for a pretty long time for such a simple question, kind of like President Bush being told about 911; talk about more of the same! His final answer was I'll have to check on that, meaning someone has to tell him what to say. If I were running Barack Obama's campaign, I would make a commercial with Bush and McCain doing exactly the same thing and run it everyday. It?s mind blowing for me to see people that rather have a dud for president then a prince.

PEACE & LOVE

Can you even see the difference and see what I am criticizing? I'm just saying that Michelle Obama needs to take advice and listen to people when they try to help her. Instead of bullying ahead and making a fool of herself. Perhaps she is smart enough to get the message now. When in Rome do as the Romans do.
She's trying to blend in with us white bread middle class folk. We dont want the Whitehouse lawn dug up and all dirt because she cant afford a lawn mower.
A White Bread Middle Class solution would be to offer to borrow our neighbors lawn more and cut their yard and ours. Different thinking. Martin Luther King wasnt talking about celebrating the differences and overpowering he was talking about blending and conforming. You still don't get it. It doesnt matter what color you are. If you want to move into a higher level on the scale of society, you have to fit in and
modify your behavior to accomplish what you want to achieve. When in Rome, When in Japan, When in Egypt you don't try to change their culture you blend and modify and adapt to have the situation run smoothly. Politicans and their wives in particular have to be camelions.

Carter lost the election because he is an unsophisticated man who is a poor orator and was even worse as president. He's done more since he's been out of office than in office. No one is putting him in the history book for anything than peanuts.

REAGAN WON that election and is often referred to and imitated by both democrats and republicans; and quoted ,because he will go down in history as one of the greatest communicators in history. I don't personally like Reagan, but facts are facts, (historically). Personally, he screwed up my dad's railroad retirement and my family's air traffic controller jobs. But I still respect him for what he was respected for and what he will be historically acclaimed for.

Carter lost the 1980 election mostly due to his honesty. The man didn't lie, but told the public the unpopular truth.
In response, Reagan lied. About everything. He was going to balance the budget- but intended to run record deficits. Reagan would never negotiate with terrorists, but his empty brag was broken even before his election.
To make sure that Carter would be defeated, Reagan surrogates met with the Iranians and made certain promises if the Iranians would stop the coming release of the hostages and hold them until after Carter was out of office.
The Iranians kept their part of the bargain, and did not release our hostages until Reagan's inauguration day. Reagan then released the Iranian assets as promised, and the Reagan admiinistration barred any civil legal action against Iran by the hostages.
Is it any wonder then, that after that show of cowardice, criminality and greed, that Iranian backed terrorists took hostages over and over again? After all, Reagan had shown that he was a coward and would pay ransom- no matter what he said.
But, it didn't matter. The voters prefered the liar to the truth teller.
The question: Does America deserve leaders like Carter and Obama?

My what a contrast seeing the Biden Family. What a cute little smocked dress the youngest one had on.

I'm guessing many of you saw this interview based on all of the carter love tonight but I dug this man since he was the first pesident in my life. I grew up learning how reagan sold our country out.

I believed that Carter was unjustly defeated and attacked. He was easily more capable than many indicate.

His points are very profound based on our time in history today.

I enjoy Chris a lot. He is a solid, thoughtful pundit but also a man ready to mix it up in the heat of a political flurry. I liked him and Olbermann outside the pepsi center the past few days.

I tend to prefer MSNBC. Their whole staff is much more complex and interesting than CNN's. Andria Mitchel, Chuck Todd, Chriss Mathews, Dan Abrahms, even Joe Scarbrough and Pat Buchanan are all class acts for Political reporting and punditry. I just like their mix.

I am not saying that I follow any of them lock step or expect complete coverage from MSNBC alone but I am most comfortable with their brand of cable news political reporting.

However; for the conventions I prefer to watch them in HD on the Demconvention.com website and save the commentary for later.

Please don't talk over speeches. Hell, the Republican representative from Iowa, Leach; was talked over by most of the delegates in the convention but he had great things to say none the less.

This is my superbowl, world series and sweeps week all wrapped up into one.

I am just waiting for the season finale in Nov to give us the next big cliffhanger, what will come next. It boggles the imagination.

No fiction is stranger than reality.

Rainy,
Probably, I only got to shake his hand & ask for autograph, he said Secret Service wouldn't let him stop. Whereas John Sidney McCain was 4th from bottom of his Annapolis class Jimmy was fourth from top. (As info, Robert E. Lee was second at West point & later Commandant of it). Jimmy had also gone to Georgia Tech. & brother Billy to Emory. Billy wasn't quite the buffoon he appeared to be, admission to Emory wasn't easy then (or now) & of course Ga. Tech also. My female cousin is a Helluva an Engineer & a very pretty one too, now an accountant, salutatorian of her H.S. class. I admire Jimmy also for his work with Habitat for Humanity & his work for world peace.

There's one thing I'm so curious about but can't find online...someone must be keeping track of how many dems and reps are registering...and the totals to date of registered voters in each group...nationwide.

Anyone know that?

Emotional reaction to Clinton move

The floor of the Pepsi Center erupted in cheers and several delegates wept as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton stopped the roll call and moved that Barack Obama become the Democratic nominee by acclamation.

Moe Spencer was clearly overcome with emotion, tears welling up in his eyes just minutes after Sen. Hillary Clinton moved that the roll call end and Barack Obama - by acclamation - become the Democratic nominee.

"I needed to hear Hillary say that Obama is the nominee," said Spencer, after tightly hugging friends around him. "I think this is resolved with everyone in this building."

Evie Hudak, a Westminster resident and Obama supporter said the moment was "unbelievable."

"I've never felt like that before," she said among the
throngs of people creeping along the crowded floor.

Sara Garcia, 60, of California had tears streamed down her face.

"Only a woman like Hillary Rodham Clinton could bring unity to this party," said "Nobody else. She's a class act. I'd proud of her. It took somebody with class who cares about this country to pull it together."

Nearby, David Gilbert-Pederson, 17, of Minnesota, wept for a different reason.

"As a young person of color, it means the world to me to have an African-American accept this nomination," Gilbert-Pederson said. "It really does mean that anything is possible."

Gilbert-Pederson is the youngest of all 4,000 delegates.

New York delegate Donna Stempniak cast her vote on the first ballot for Clinton. "I feel committed to support her because I ran as a delegate for Hillary in my district," said Stempniak, 56, of Lancaster, New York, a Buffalo- suburb.

But Stempniak wept after Clinton gave her delegates to Obama.

"It was very emotional, knowing that we're not going to have a woman president,"she said. "But we will have a minority president and that's exciting."

Allowing New York to put Clinton's final number of delegates on record, will heal divisions, several members of Congress said.

"If the New York delegation, the most pro-Hillary delegation, can vote unanimously for Barack Obama, it shows how unified we are," said Sen. Chuck Schumer, the senior New York senator.

Sen. Dick Durbin, perhaps Obama's closest ally in the Senate, said that Clinton "has done a lot to heal divisions of this Party," and that with the exception of a few, Clinton delegates would support Obama in November.
