The Penn & Teller ?Bullshit!? show, which goes out on the Showtime premium cable channel (owned by CBS), used its season?s last episode to launch an all-out attack on the Vatican.

I feel so stupid now. Problem is since i live in Puerto Rico, i dont really hear much any news about whats going on in the states anymore. The only things i seem to read about from outside of P.R. is war, economy, etc...

Thanks for letting me know, though.

voyce,

There's another man claiming to have received messages from God, who allegedly did these things - story's been on the news for a few days.

He's likely a criminal fuck with a few screws loose, and not the typical Christian... but the number of nutballs who claim to have a religious experience while torturing other people, is disconcerting.

Where is this coming from? What exactly are you trying to say(other than there is no love if so and so...)? Does this have to do with religion? or the Bible? or current society? or what?

A guy makes you live in a shed out in the backyard.
or...if You are abducted
and forced into being his bride.
or.....
if you are held captive for eighteen years.
or.....if you are not allowed
to wear normal clothing.
or......if you are given
a new first name.

I've been waiting for the atheist's version. I hear it's a quick read, albeit terribly overpriced.

This is one of the main problems the Bible has. Its countless "revised" versions and countless translations. The translations arent that bad. I mean, we dont all understand Hebrew, Greek or Aramaic, but the countless revised versions i dont like. I never really noticed this problem until i started to read the New International Version(NIV). That Bible is TERRIBLE. It shouldnt even be allowed to exist, its so terrible. It literally adds and takes away from the Bible, whole words and sometimes whole verses(which is condemned by the Bible itself).

thank you Lady,

Wonder which English they're going to use (?)

I'm suspicious of any attempts to translate, "to make accessable", whenever at least some of the audience already considers the text to be the literal Word of God.

"CNN just reported that a revised form of the Bible is being released in 2011, updated for changes in the English language.

They didn't address the single most important piece of information in the whole story: who's releasing it."

They didn't address the single most important piece of information in the whole story: who's releasing it.

Is it to be the Catholics?

The Lutherans?

The Baptists?

The Mormons?

Who's sanctioning this Revised Bible? And, what's the point of a Revised Bible, if not to translate it once again for a new audience, losing and adding connotations and denotations to the text? Afterall, nothing's ever lost, substituted, or added in translation ;).

It's only the single pillar upon which the entire Christian faith is built on... wouldn't want to suggest that a group of people (self-appointed and unaccountable) could manipulate such a document for their own gains.

Bumper Stickers I'd like to see (#11):

You say Crusades, I say, ?Rape and Plunder by asshole Anglos and Frogs.?

Good to know the world?s populace is sheltered and fed, that we can build such obscene shrines to honor the God of charity.

If we all practiced religious tolerance, the entire Racket would collapse into bankruptcy and ruin.

Taxes are for heathens.

Maybe Jesus accepted his fate for all the wrong reasons. Chicks dig piercings.

Threat of excommunication, is like threatening to bury Grandma upside-down. Or can we admit that God cares more about Man?s heart, than about his ceremonies?

and?

Priests can?t set rules for condoms or adoptions, until they?ve tried both on.

My Mike Myers remark was a sarcastic approach to a Empire that was very successful. I know the Romans ruled the empire, by imperialistic ideals, extreme torture(crucifixion for any enemy to the state) and Emperor's who manipulated and or created a savior to rule the masses.(Council of Nicaea) Even if one pope was pure in his intentions the teachings were distorted immediately when the next pope took office. The popes were not holy men but politicians. So for example it would be like President Clinton receiving the teachings of some great prophet and he elected to remove chapter 33 on compassion because he thought it would not address his agenda as president of a empire.
And do not forget the Roman Catholic Church's fight against Martin Luther (a monk) who translated the bible into German so that the masses could read it. Very threatening to the power of the The Church. (I am not sure on the fact- I think he was German) He was kicked out because they wanted to continue to manipulate the masses i.e. original purpose of the HOLY ROMAN's EMPIRE to do a 1984- Big Brother Move!!!!!!

If the Dalai Lama, who was kicked out of his homeland, still preserves some deep amount of compassion, patience and grace is a "rather decent guy" then he does have some answers to the nature of being human. Mostly because he did not drop a bomb on China. This is the best we got so far people!!!! It is the way that the Dalai Lama acts and practices that is the answer. He does not promote a doctrine under a massive tent every Sunday and then go out and play the field on Monday thru Saturday. He promotes peaceful action. He does write books to explain his faith, but he would not tell me that I will go to hell for not believing it. He would not tell me that my soul is doomed if I do not take his faith as the only one.

I do ask a lot of questions and also seek the answers. I posted those questions to people who claim that their is "No God, No Nothing" because they are mad or upset at a religion that they grew up under. It is the existential ideal that just does not do it for me. But it is the proof that they need and at least they are smart enough to expect it. I will take that any day over those who believe the fairy tale stories of the Christian Doctrine are literally true.

( as if you are typing to me )
You are lovely young lady who asks good questions.

the Dali Lama does not have the answers.
He is just followed and a rather decent guy.

The Holy Roman empire was very Roman.
the remnant of the Empire of Rome
that is still very viable today IS
the Roman Catholic Church.

The most important thing for all that you have typed here
is to
keep asking questions - lots and lots of questions.

I would be interested to read all that you typed here
in the form of a big list of questions
