The Motley Fool asks when will retail finally turn the corner. The numbers are looking so bleak that Wal-Mart has elected to stop issuing it's numbers on a monthly basis. Is retail still the prime indicator, or have consumer trends changed so much that retail numbers are no longer a reliable indicator of the state of the economy?

hi Donna I think retail stats more closely mirror the Main Street economy. The stock market going up is showing something else, I don't quite understand what. Maybe that when companies lay off tens of thousands of employees they make more profit?

Forgot about them. I haven't listened to them in a long time. I drive by malls and shopping centers and the lots are full.
