Bill and guests...

WTF is Obama doing??? He has been in office six weeks and he has already done more to benefit the American Public than Bush and his Cronies did the entire 8 years they were in office. Is he setting the bar too high and more importantly, does he need to step back, get high and slow down in order to prevent over exposure and getting burnt out in the first 100 days?

My name is infoseek. What if you found out your crews are smoking pot behind the set?

If more people in America smoked pot would the country be smarter?

(I'm always smarter after I've had some.)

Isn't the underlying reason for the state of health care in this country the fact that the whole system is for profit?Doctors do not become doctors because they are so altruistic and wish to heal and serve, they do it because of the grossly absurd amounts of money they can make.Their service's are out of proportion in regards to their charge's.Now a days they own the "surgery centers",they make deals with the pharmacutical companies to push their brand of pills and they invest in the health insurance companies. They have no incentive what so ever to change. As far as I can see no real progress in the way we handle health care in this country will ever happen until that issue is addressed bluntly and someone holds their feet to the fire and force's them to adjust their fee's and that applies to the entire health care system, doctors hospitals insurance co's college's etc.Top to botttom re-assessment,no one to get a free pass.

Dear Mr. Maher,

What do you think will happen if the government ties housing bailout with jobless claims?

Dear Mr. Maher,

My name is infoseek. What do you think Obama should tell the Americans who don't care about the value of their homes because they simply live within their means and are responsible to obligations?

wrt the difference between modern and Eisenhower era republicans - that was before the Democrats aligned themselves with the civil rights movement, giving the Republican party a membership windfall of ignorant, trigger-happy racists

Is it possible to try and punish the Bush administration for various crimes including Constitutional infractions, war crimes and the deliberate deception of the American people?

(I don't mean to be a downer in this time of "Change" and look back on the negatives, but no one is held accountable!?)

Isn't it time to stop throwing good money after bad and temporarily nationalize banks to sort out the sustainable banks from the losers?

Thanks

Seriously Bill,

Why is alcohol legal and marijuana not? It can't be for the same reasons as the DUI horror stories we all know about and have felt.

Marijuana makes money and "they" will confiscate the "illegal" money and use it for whatever, but "they" won't legalize it, tax it, and make the money "legal".......please explain why.

Thank you, I love your show.

Why should we listen to the "experts" at CNBC or Bloomberg who, seemingly, couldn't predict the tick of a watch.

Rush Limbaugh has a pet cat that is female and is devoted to him because he feeds and houses her... Will that be the only pussy Rush gets these days? B-)

Republican?s continue to tout cocktails of various tax cuts as reasonable counter proposals to the President?s stimulus package. Are any of your panelists aware of a model that these proposals might be based on? Is there historical evidence of such an approach being applied successfully to pull a real world economy out of a depression, or even a deep recession?

President Eisenhower, a Republican, once stated: "Every gun that is made, every battleship that is built, every missile that is launched, is a direct theft from the people who are hungry and starving in this world."
When and why did his party steer so far away from this direction? He was one of America's most respected and trusted leaders. And this was during the "Cold War"!

Bill,
Didn't the people who are complaining about their losses in the stock market know that they were taking a risk by trusting people they don't know and systems they couldn't understand in hopes of receiving higher returns than those offered by guaranteed/fixed interest investments? Yes my wife and I have a 401k, we knew there were safer ways to invest. It isn't as if the stock exchange or many of those employed because of it have historically had a great reputation, fairly or not. Are these supposedly new problems really that big a surprise?
