Republicans miss the point that Nixon established the EPA, and then it was the Reps that lifted many of the original restrictions Nixon put in....why?

Why don't any of the top environmentalists mention the effects of animal industry on the environment. If people reduced or eliminated their consumption of animal products, that would go a long way toward reducing climate change. You mentioned that cows fart methane; that's a greenhouse gas, hello! -- ~I've been glamoured by Bill Compton "You're cute; can I sit in your lap?"

If you tortured The Pope, you could have him admit we are descendants of apes. So how reliable can information be if it comes from an individual who was just tortured?

This is so true we the people have let our government tell us what they say is the best way for us. The second that we say that they are not thinking of us, We are the bad or the unamerican of us to speak that way of our country. We do have to remember that We are the people that pay for what ever our government does for the so call people of our country. -- Edited by hermano178 at 04/24/2009 7:51 PM PDT

How much more respect would we all have for Dick Cheney if he stood up and said "Yes we ordered torture and I know it's illegal. Do what you will to me, it was justified and 20 years in prison is a small price to pay for all the lives we saved". Isn't there an argument that, in the ticking bomb scenario, the CIA agent can go ahead and torture and do his best to save the lives of the innocent masses. But he will still go to jail. And if he was right, even he will see his sentence as a small price to pay?

How do you view the Constitution's importance in maintaining a good quality of life for all American citizens and which parts of our Constitution do you believe are no longer valid in our modern culture?

I'd like to know the panel's view on the "tea parties" that took place on April 15th.

Bill, On your reference to gun control, and Obama's lack of interest in the subject I live in a small town in Indiana and I know somebody who's family owns a gun shop. They have been unable to get their hands on ammunition of any kind. Does this not have something to do with Obama?

2 months ago, everybody was looking for Obama to first stop the economic bleeding. Now that it's looking more stable, you're in a tizzy about where we'll be in 6 months. At least one of you (Dean) has some optimism. Why not more cautious optimism and less doomsayer outlook?

We have listened to Dick Cheney tell us that if we elect a non republican that we will not be safe. Now, as a direct result of his administrations policy of not pursuing the people who actually attacked us, those very people that provided them aid are in position to gain control of nuclear weapons and may give us the worst smoking gun we could imagine. So, my question is this, can we now tell him to shut up?

After Dean brought up Immelts "things will be different" statement the panel agreed things would change in finance because of the financial crisis. My question is why will they change? Nobody has been punished. Not one CEO has been fired or any executive board member been replaced. The people in charge are not being held accountable. Are we to believe that after they are bailed out they will not care about making lots of money and taken bad risks to do so? What happened to the discussion of "moral hazard". It was thrown around a while back before the bailouts started. Ever since it isn't talked about in the mainstream media....

People have taken a position that the so-called torture of captured combatants destroys the nation's moral underpinnings. What do these some people say about the obession with guns in this country and the thousands of deaths annually by gunshot. Is this part of our moral underpinnings? If these gun deaths are against our moral underpinnings, why isn't gun control or at least control of assualt weapons at the top of the administration's agenda.

I am a cancer patient in Florida. I moved from florida to california to undergo treatment, leaving my family behind. I did this because I could not undergo Chemo without without smoking lots of marijuana. I went because florida laws are so strict that I believed the risk of going to jail was to high. Do you or any of the panelists truly believe that the laws will change in my lifetime? Which unfortunaletly will only be less than five years. John Age 25
