I was listening Friday night and was struck by how no one responded to the comment that Corporations in the US pay a higher share of taxes. No one was able to make the point that yes...they are in that bracket, but THEY NEVER PAY IT!!!!! Anyone else get how numb we are?

Hey Bill, A long time ago I got caught in a cycle of going to jail. I would get pulled over for expired vehicle stickers (registration and inspection). I couldn't get either of these because I couldn't afford car insurance, thus a hefty $300 ticket would be included ironically named "Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility" which I of course couldn't pay. I was younger then, but I felt really bad for the 60+ year old men working minimum wage jobs being caught in the cycle, too. These men never did anything wrong but not make much money and get thrown in jail because of it; not to mention, now they could even get fired from their low paying jobs since they are now in jail and not in work! Do you believe that a state/ city liability insurance should be provided for low income families provided they show proof of low income and decent vehicle standards? (Of course, other regulations could be included such as if they needed this liability insurance more than a certain number of times it could result in suspension of DL and privileges.)

A female friend of mine visited several hospitals/ doctors around Las Cruces, NM & El Paso, TX for problems; they couldn't find anything that would help her. Finally, she went down to Juarez, Mexico to visit a doctor for free (though people typically donate $10 American or so). They diagnosed the ovarian problem and helped her feel much better after a single visit. Bill, why is it that the FREE doctor visit in MEXICO (it is not like we are saying France) was able to diagnose and treat my friend's problem on a single visit and various American doctors couldn't do this with several visits? (A guess of mine is that they don't get money on returning customers/ patients, so they actually try to help them from not needing to come back.) Next thing you know, we'll start seeing Americans crossing the Mexican border as illegal aliens for health care. (Warning Americans: don't cross over these days as too many people are getting killed.) (P.S. Bill, if you want any extra information on this, I'm sure my friend or I could get that information to you. Still love the show!)

The US budget for military has astronomical numbers to deal with the safety and well being of American lives. There is something else that deals with the safety and well being of American lives too: Health Care. By the way, the costs for health care go directly towards saving American lives and creating a better future for us all as a country. Personally, I am much more scared of an illness/ injury ruining my life than foreign threats; however, maybe thats something good about the military budget as well. I am not even saying we need to make cuts in the military budget to pay for health care (though I'd believe it would be less than 1/2%), but don't you believe the country can find the money to pay for health care? And for the right wing 'nay' Sayers, what if we mentioned that terrorists held Americans outside of the hospitals so they couldn't get treatment? Well, the health care companies that refuse to pay for pre-existing conditions, doctors of our choices and any other sneaky trick they can pull to make a profit are 'terrorizing' American citizens in this way. Not to mention the other Americans who feel 'terrorized' because they simply cannot afford health care and so they definitely cannot afford to visit a hospital. (Please cut/ paste/ research as you feel Bill. Love the show!)

Another Disappointing Show - 8/7/09

The Republican guests dished out fibs and evasions, and Maher let them get away with it. Why? We were promised Ariana Huffington would take them on on health care -- and instead the subject got changed to fluff. What a waste of viewers' time. Mr. Maher, why were you such a puffball? Are you afraid of alienating these guys? Gimme a break. There's plenty more liars and slugs where they came from.

Bill is just wrong about 9/11 being planned from an apartment. Attacks of this nature, or any military operation requires not only planning but rehearsal. Just as the sweeping armour movements of the first Gulf War were practiced in the deserts of southern California, D-Day rehearsed on the White Cliffs of Dover. The attacks of 9/11 were worked up and practiced over and over in camps in Afghanistan until a reasonable degree of success could be expected. The men who carried out that plan were highly trained professionals who rehearsed the attack.

Bill the US postal service is saying that they are going to have to close post offices because they are doing so bad. and the goverment made the execs at AIG give back their bonuses. well the USPS gave the top 5 execs millions of dollars in bonuses. they should have to give theirs back as well because they were rewarded for doing a bad job, and the post office is a quazie goverment company. send their bonuses back, and save some jobs -- Edited by jimj69 at 08/14/2009 7:09 PM PDT -- Edited by jimj69 at 08/14/2009 7:09 PM PDT

Why is there no intelligent debate about health care between politicians? It seems to me that its just "I am a Democrat and I am for reform", Im a Republican and I am not."

Bill, Quit supporting all of this wasteful spending that our liberal government is involved with. That Cash for Clunkers program shouldn't be allowed. Taking cars and destroying them is stupid. Most of those cars could still be used and certain people should be made to use them instead of get more fake money (bank loan) to buy a brand spanking new Toyota while getting gobbled up into another shit cycle of overconsumption. I guess there does have to be another all-out depression before people will learn.

Bill - Being a former Okie, I would just like to hear opinions regarding Texas seceding. If Texas secedes, will Oklahoma still suck? *(just in case you've never heard the joke: Why does Texas stay on the map?......Because Oklahoma sucks) It would be nice to put that one to rest. Thanks Bill, Heather G. Willits, CA

I agree with DOCTOR H word for word! Wake Up BILL!!! PLEASE!!!!!! I know you are attempting to be entertaining and have some slight politics to play to keep douchebags like this engaged but PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE. KEEP these jerks on POINT/Message. Jack K. then goes on to use the ploy, "I know you (Bill) must have been a perfect child, but I got spanked for being bad". In the next breath, "see that's something else we have in common" The cheap Repub's sales ploy to draw you in. (if we are so different why have we so many things alike?) These Good 'Ole Boys are attempting to rope and wrangle you down to subservience Bill. YOU MUST COME FOREWARNED AND FOREARMED, TO OVER COME THIS RAVING BAND OF IGNORANCE DRESSED AS COMMON SENSE. Please do ALLL your homework I know you usually do.

Can you Believe these Republican Clowns?

This is the 3rd time I've seen this show and I still can't believe it. Is Jack Kingston the test tube baby of Rush Limbaugh's willy wacking? What an Asshole! Dan Issa and Jack Kingston are both cherry picking their debating points and garishly lost all of them. Typical Republican jerks, look how they attempt to bait and hook shuck and jive.
