According to these guys, we're a bunch of brainwashed fools. SLAVES TO THE SYSTEM, they'll tell you. We can't think for ourselves, make informed decisions, see how our world is being controlled by a handful of people.. Kind of insulting, isn't it?

Yeah Mykul, I think that is the crux of your problem. I do not know about your 3 series, but I think if you place the intake somewhere else thats guranteed to get tons of air, your system as a whole will breathe better. If that doesnt help you, I sugesst you call Click and Clack from Car Talk on NPR. -- Edited by smokefreak2006 at 05/15/2008 9:48 PM PDT

Hmm.. You think maybe I don't have enough air getting to it? It was a real bitch to install.. I had to take out the whole headlight assembly, move the ballast, and the filter is way down in the passenger-side corner of the car.. Its practically touching the floor. I don't have any hydro-block anything! It came with this bag that you put over it, which supposedly keeps me safe from moisture.. I've got the E46 - most popular one ever - so there are a TON of parts available. Unfortunately, its usually expensive as SHIT. I can throw $200-$400 here or there but any kit with the word "system" in it is usually out of the question.

Smoke I put a cold-air intake in my BMW 3.28 and my engine light hasn't been right ever since.. First it signaled 2 of my 4 O2 sensors were bad - I spent $220 replacing them.. now its giving me some FUEL CUT-OFF something or other code. Is this alright or do I need to put the stock filter back in? Mykul is not an Elitist for driving a BMW. Id get an old BMW diesel and run it on Vegetable oil and use it as a beater. No, No, No Mykul. I have an 2007 Hyundai Accent in which I use as a tuner everyday. I had the same problem. What happened was, the way I placed my intake was too restrictive because at first I was scared of removing the stock air box bottom; due to warranty fears. I just put a little but of piping and a fliter and drove that way. I have tons of engine light codes. Everybody told me it was too restrictive, even the dealer. So I caved in and took out all of the remnants of the stock air equipment and placed the intake to recieve outside air behind the well of the bumper. I have 2 Injen Hydro shields and an AEM 3.0' Water Stopper for added protection, to protect my engine from hydrolock. The MPG has gone up way higher from 37 MPG to 50 MPG on long trips, also I save more gas at sppeds of 65-80 than if I was to drive "Canadian Style" at speeds of 45-60. The horsepower went up from 110 to 160 on dynos also. Guess what, no more engine codes by the way. I wish I lived a little closer to you man, so I could check the problem out. To me, people with stock air systems are silly. I hit myself in the head sometimes, thinking, "I wish I did this shit sooner on the previous cars I owned." Also doesnt BMWs like most luxury cars have plug on the air intake system? Where there are plugs for sensors on the actual intake itself? I know my co-worker's Audi does. You should also think about getting an exhaust system. I have heard that BMWs like Hyundais have hotter exhaust gases than most of the other makes, causing reductions in fuel economy and horsepower. Just puting on an aftermarket muffler increased my MPG by 5. I dont know about the horse, becuase I have not had the car dynoed since the muffler addition, but I can feel it. So could you imagine if I went fully loaded and got 2 aftermarket cats? Remember, car makers have to make exhausts more restrictive in order to sell them in the US. That exhaust restriction, decreases emissions as that is the goal, but overall reduces MPG. That is the primary reason why lots of cars available in Europe are not sold here. The European version of my car is 43 MPG stock, while the American Verson is 37 MPG stock. Most of the BMWs 1, 2, and 3 series are 30+MPG cars in Europe due to less restrictive exhausts. Also, our gas is a lot more watery than European gas, reducing emissions, lengthening supplies, but dropping MPG overall. Canadians have more watery gas than we do. I know when I go up there, my MPG drops by 3-5 just using their gas. The same in Michigan, where their gas is so watery it is borderline Criminal. -- Edited by smokefreak2006 at 05/15/2008 4:12 PM PDT

Hey Yo, This is Smoke here. I just got into a chase with the cops. I eluded them with an electric turbocharger. Turbocharge your car for cheap. You can also beat those gas prices these evil oil companies are charging, that are raping our Nation's economy of the last resilience it has. Remember people, to beat Racist and Classist cops in chases, Turbocharge your car. To get a big increase in fuel economy, possibly 50-60 MPG for a 35-37MPG car, Turbocharge it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.electricsupercharger.net/ -- Edited by smokefreak2006 at 05/15/2008 12:59 AM PDT
