If You Don't Say the Economy is Sound, You are Insulting American Workers

Remember the Bush tactic - when someone was against the war, they were characterized as being against the troops

Well, here we go again.

McCain finally realized how stupid his statements are about our "sound" economy. So, when Obama pushed him into a corner, McCain said that "WHAT HE MEANT WAS" that the good, working folks of this country are sound, and that if Obama says that we're not sound, then Obama is insulting the working folks of this country.

The Bush math

Against the war=Against the troops

If you think the economy is bad=you think working folks are bad

SAME OLD SAME OLD

Now I know that a lot of you like that...you enjoyed the last 8 years and you want more...sad, but true...and that's fine...

just stop saying that McCain is a Maverick when he is a pathetic shill for the last regime along with shill #2 Sara Palin

YOU ARE SO FUNNY ARETZ - YOU LEFT THIS OUT, yet everyone can see it. It was my disclaimer, predicting exactly what you would say...as follows:

"see, I was right, you are biased, you couldn't respond" or some other such nonsense, please save your breath.

I knew you would say it, I knew you couldn't accept it, and I knew that being right is EVERYTHING for you.

I chose not to respond because this has become tiresome and NO MATTER HOW MANY THINGS YOU CUT AND PASTE...I WILL COME BACK WITH A RESPONSE...AND THEN YOU WILL DISMISS IT AS BIASED...

like communicating with an addict at 4am

can't do it anymore Aretz...peace be with you!!!!!!!!!!!

I was expecting that you would avoid discussing this one. Of course, you disagree with me. But do you disagree because I have the wrong set of facts or do you disagree because you do not place any importance on these facts due to bias? This was the question

Listen, I know that some facts are difficult for Obama fans. OK.

You mean you do not try to prove you are right?

Of course, of course. All totally expected.

OK, let's see how unbiased you are:

Aretz...when you start out with a statement like that, you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that your goal is not to exchange ideas but to prove that I am biased because you cannot accept that I disagree with you.

Your need to be right overshadows everything...can't communicate with someone who's primary goal is to be right...it's a bottomless abyss Aretz...been there...done that.

and so, as long as you start out with a childish dare...a hollow challenge, I will have to choose to say no Aretz...

can't engage in this obsession any more.

good luck though and be well and if you choose to respond with something like "see, I was right, you are biased, you couldn't respond" or some other such nonsense, please save your breath.

been there done that as well.

OK, let's see how unbiased you are:

During the primaries, Obama maintained that Hillary did not have the judgement to be president because she voted for the war in Iraq. Obama won the primaries. Obama then offered the vice-presidency to Jo Biden who not only voted for the war in Iraq but actually proposed the partitioning of this country.

During the primaries, Obama promised his supporters that he would block Bush's FISA bill with its immunity to telecoms that broke the law and violated the constitution. Obama won the primary. Obama then voted for the FISA bill.

OK....now, let's have your comments on these, major blanks of the Obama candidancy in which this candidate has been, let's say, less than truthfull.

I am not a Republican and I do not necessarily support McCain. Remember this.

Further Obama criticism: Giving brakes to 95% of households is funny when only 60% of the households in the US pay any taxes. And the remaining 5% who pay 67% of all taxes represent in their majority the professional middle class of California, New York, Massachussets, Connecticut and New Jersey. Fleecing those who do not vote Democratic in order to collect a miserable 5.5 billion while giving away 350 billion is not a clever policy.

Now, my specific criticism of McCain and Obama together: Both continue the "war on terror" but with minimal reformulations. Obama wants to send two brigades from Iraq to Afganistan (where they are not going to make any difference). So, the war in Iraq may be transformed into a more deadly war in Afganistan pulling in Pakistan (possibly). Both want Georgia into NATO which will spark an antagonism with Russia

McCain criticism: The Health Care plan makes no sense without Goverment regulation and specific price restrictions. Even if most people end up making some money from the tax credit, no realistic movement will occur to personal insurance unless the field is heavily regulated. (b) Tax cuts to all: not on in the present climate. OK with abolishing the AMT, but stop there.

I really, really like McCain's emphasis on nuclear power. It is the fastest way of cleaning carbon from the atmosphere and it is going to generate a lot of high paying jobs. Research in alternative energy sources is a great idea (both Obama and McCain support it) but nothing that can be deployed in the next decade.

This is a very shallow mentality
...and I agree with.....ccgalen that it is
wholly reactive and not putting the country first.

Flight - I have to say that this whole slogan, "Put Country First" has the same manipulative tone as Bush had about Patriotism.

I work on tag lines for public service campaigns. I am completely aware of why the statement "Put Country First" was framed just as it was. It's brilliant but it's sleazy marketing because it automatically implies that your opponent doesn't. That was of course, the whole idea.

Bush did the same thing when he implied that if you disagreed with the war, you weren't Patriotic, if you disagreed with the administration, you weren't Patriotic.

It's a very "smelly" slogan. Dividing us all into the categories as follows:

If you Put Country First - You're for Mccain

If you DON'T Put Country First - You're for Obama.

BIPARTISAN?

This is the same Bush Patriotism tactic.

Truth is, I am for Obama because I think it is my patriotic duty to vote for someone who will not allow this country to continue down the same destructive path it has been on for far too long.

It would be nice if Republicans would stop wrapping themselves up in the flag, in the name of God and basically implying that the rest of us are traitors and heathens.

Ridiculous, manipulative, and offensive, and at the root of the ugly divisiveness that has broken this country apart.

My point is that if one is far too partisan, one cannot be believable.

Aretz...this is the longest and most exhausting circle dance. You say I am partisan...I can tell you that if McCain were a Democrat, I wouldn't vote for him...you really don't get it...you make these wild assumptions because you continually need to assign some flaw to my thinking when I disagree!

If you were prepared to assess certain of the elements that I have presented with equanimity and in the spirit of true debate, maybe we could have debated more effectively.

I truly don't believe you fully realize what you are saying here and I actually do believe that you don't hear how arrogant you sound. You are basically saying that if I were listening objectively - if I were not in an OBAMA FOG, desperately falling down the rabbit hole into oblivion - I would assess your arguments differently, that I would hear you words and leap up in unbridled joy and say, "I see the light."

It seems hard for you to fathom that I AM listening objectively and that I simply don't agree with you. Many of your arguments are - to me - simply not as spectacularly enlightening and informative as you seem to think they are.

When you don't posture and preach, it is infinitely more appealing - because you relay viewpoints as what they are...viewpoints...not one of the ten commandments. You do drop the "speaking from the stone tablets" thing sometimes and then YOU are more credible.

And so, it would really be nice if you could just exchange points of view without dismissing opposing views as pathetic utterances of blind adoration. They are opinions, JUST LIKE YOURS, with as much validity as yours.

Sometimes it's just that we disagree...it's JUST THAT SIMPLE

There are a lot of crappy exchanges in these forums. It's personal for most of us, the state of this country. But what I cannot deal with - with you or anyone, is when it ceases to become an active exchange and instead a constant put down of the other person's thinking.

"You must be a commie if you think that" is no different than "true believer"

It's a cop-out response.

I say, disagree if you wish! Sing your heart out! Cut and Paste to your heart's content!!!

But don't tell me that YOU are the clear thinking fact guru and I am the poor pathetic little OBAMA groupie.

That is unacceptable. If you feel that way - and you might - then I am truly perplexed about why you even bother responding.

And so, I will end this communication as I have so many times in the past...I completely respect your viewpoint and actually have no need for you to see things as I do.

In the spirit of debate, it would be infinitely easier to exchange ideas if you could simply stop putting your views on some lofty plane. They are not. They are your views, no more, no less.

If you cannot do this, we've hit another one of our brick walls, and that's ok too.
