George Tiller, 67, was shot dead as he was walking into the Reformation Lutheran Church on the east side of town at United States of America around 10 am this morning. George Tiller was pronounced dead at the scene. Wichita police are searching for a blue Ford Taurus with a Kansas vanity license plate. The suspected gunman in the fatal shooting death of Dr. George Tiller is described as a white male in his 50s or 60s who is around 6 feet tall and was wearing a white shirt and dark pants at the time of the shooting. Police say the vehicle is registered to an individual in the Kansas City area. Wichita police Captain Brent Allred told the Wichita Eagle that the FBI and the KBI are helping with the case. Dr. George Tiller's clinic, Women's Health Care Services, has been the site of protests for nearly 20 years; opponents of abortion have also protested outside of George Tiller's home. Tiller was shot and wounded in both arms back in 1993 (his assailant remains in jail). According to Religious Tolerance.Org, violent protests against abortion clinics and providers started in the early 1970s. Protests have come in the form of arson, firebombing, vandalism, assault, and, as in the case of Dr. George Tiller, murder. In 1994, Vancouver, B.C. Dr. Garson Romalus was shot in the leg; The next year Dr. Hugh Short, another Canadian doctor, was shot in the elbow. In 1997, Dr. Jack Fainman of Winnipeg, Manitoba was shot in the shoulder. And those are just the abortion providers who have been wounded; Dr. David Gunn was killed outside an abortion clinic in 1993. His killer, Michael Griffin, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. In 1998, Dr. Barnett Slepian of Amherst, New York was shot and killed in his home by an anti-abortion activist. He had just returned from synagogue and was preparing dinner when he was shot through a window. James Charles Kopp was tried and convicted for the murder of Dr. Slepian in Buffalo, New York, and is currently serving 25 years to life in prison.

My blood is still boiling. Tiller was an American. Can we finally call these religious, anti-American, anti-government assholes on their blood thirsty, anarchistic terrorism?
Don't like our media? unions? science? lawyers? hollywood celebrities? supreme court justices? jews? blacks? congress? emmigrants? gays? hip hop? sex? Constitution? free press? Department of Education?
I would honestly love anyone who answers "no" to any of the above to tell me what the F**K makes America the greatest country in the world. I have my list ... do I now have to cross off a sense of security?

Mrs. Tiller is giving up. She worked with her husband for 20 years to advance women's rights in health care. The murderer is gloating about this in jail according to CNN. His supporters are probably very happy and excited.
The Tiller family is devastated, husband, dad, grandpa dead. The murderer's family is devastated as well. His wife had divorced him, his adult son avoided contact with him, a woman he wasn't married to whose child he fathered went through the courts to get protection from she or her child having to have any contact with him at all.
But the anti-abortion crowd is gloating.

the death of Dr Tiller has revealed the basic characer flaw within the right in this country. with 2 wars raging and people dying in mass from the war profiteering, the focus of malicious outrage was pointed at a man in his church.
and now there are those who want to support this killing as justified because it will save lives. they refuse to even address other killings and hope the scope of killing rest solely on someone like the late Dr.
punch a neocon in the head today, for a better tomorrow.

Doctor Tiller did not deserve to die. If you are against murder then you should be against any and all murder. It seems hypocritical to get upset about killing unborn babies but not be bothered about killing people who are already living. Babies grow up to be assholes too.
I am not saying that third term abortion is acceptable in all cases. It?s cruel in certain circumstances. If you were too lazy to take care of it sooner or too dumb to realize you were pregnant, then NO you should not be able to have an abortion in the third term. But if the unborn child is severely deformed or has some sort of genetic issue that will limit their quality of life, endangerment of the mother?s life then by all means it is the most compassionate thing to do.
So if you are in support of people who carry signs of dismembered fetuses then you should also be in support of those who are angered at the murder of Doctor Tiller. Otherwise you don?t have any kind of argument. Abortion is legal and it?s not any ones business what a pregnant women decides to do with herself and unborn child, PERIOD. Unless you?re going to bear it, raise it, feed it and clothe it, you should shut the f**k up.

realTxn,
Every year I make being less critical of the religious one of my New Year's resolutions. Never seem to make it more than a few weeks. I don't feel critical on an individual level. All of my family and many of my friends are religious and wonderful people. It's the Christian political agenda, I guess, that gets on my last nerve.
