Don't forget to relocate a few cities or build some real infrastructures to counter the effects of global warming.

I'm still trying to understand why this is news. Who the fuck is George Will? He is a citizen with a bad toupe. Why does his opinion carry so much weight? As for the war, I have been getting a Viet Nam vibe about this one for some time. The enemy is scattered throughout the mountains. They are being supported by the locals. There is no clear objective that I can see. How will we know when it's over? What would winning look like? I think I would rather we spend the money and resources here at home. More money for protection at the rail stations and waterways. More money and people to screen everyone coming into the country. And more money and personnel to find the enemies who are already here.

> I've never cared for George Will, but it is good to > see him take this position. He must be getting > old... ...I want to see the Taliban eliminated and I doubt people would disagree with that but intervention/ nation buliding has failed in that area quite spectacularly in history. Both Britain and the Soviet Union, who at the times of their respective engangements in the region were world military powers, failed ..what is the purpose of staying engaged.. preventing the return of a safe haven for terrorists that might strike outside the borders? ( I might agree with Mr. Will that this might be dealt with as he suggests ) Or is it the fear that by withdrawing, a terrible horror will descend on Afghanistan as the Taliban return with real vengeance ( if so, then we will be there for a long long long time...one must think in terms of at least a generation, not years ) ..the policy seems somewhat muddled and should be clearly articulated. ...I am not surprised that George Will has come to this conclusion and I expect more conservatives to do so also ( particularly those who focus or try to refocus the Republicans on fiscal conservatism )..they would see that the Taiban's return and the effect on domestic Afghanistan is not a something for the US to deal with on its own or with limited assistance ( effectively only the UK )...
