Everyone calls him a freak. Well he is only as freaky as this culture. I remember when MTV would not play his videos. I remember when MTV would not play any Black videos. Yes, liberal MTV and this was in the 80s, not the 60s. Michael Jackson was a scarred individul moreso than most IMHO because he grew up in the public eye and therefore was rejected in some way or another because of his being black every day of his life. Shit, I remember when you had to watch BET to see a MJ video or any black videos for that matter (hence the reason why BET was developed, it rivaled MTV). I remember when MJ was not allowed to be pop because black people could only be R&B. Think about it, what made him rejectable? Answer: 1. His thick lips 2. his wide nose 3. his dark skin 4. his nappy hair What did Michael Jackson change? Answer: 1. his thick lips 2. his wide nose 3. his dark skin 4. his nappy hair It aint rocket science. I am not saying I would make the changes if I were in his situation. I am simply saying he did and I understand why even if I would never do it. Michael Jackson hated being black because this country hated him being black. I feel sorry that he couldnt hold onto his appearance becasue America has changed racially for the better. It seems like black people cant stay off of MTV now. But when Michael jackson was coming up, as late as the 1980s, that was an entirely different story.

He is a cultural icon he deserves to have the people pick up the bill. I say let the city pretend like its doing everyone a favor, California is so fucked up anyway, Micheal J funeral will take their minds off it awhile. -- Edited by 56you at 07/03/2009 1:33 PM PDT

bart - some show ... i forget was talking about FUTURE moeny to be made as apposed to the debt - It will go on for decades ... Books, movies, tell all, future album purchases AND Neverland being preserved and made into a Graceland type place .... I was comparing Elvis to MJ the other day - I said It only took 40 years - but elvis is finally dead now! Nerds...what I mean is that Debbie Rowe is going to do anything to make a buck off of Michael Jackson and those kids...much like his family. She went from saying she wanted nothing to do with the kids to miraculously possibly wanting custody. That's not "heart"felt. That's "pocket"felt. -- When in doubt, hit him in the head. --Coach Lawyer You've just been invited to suck it. --Steve Carell (The Office)

HBO should do a documentary about videos submitted by black artists submitted to MTV which were rejected, interspersed with interviews of the artists and the former MTV employees. -- "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)
