I agree IMO it is that it is the republican party along the MIC agenda that he fronts that position. I don't really understand it either with his war record maybe he says these things to get elected. > I don't understand McCain's support of the war in > Iraq in the first place. I don't understand McCain's support of the war in Iraq in the first place. He served and suffered incredibly terribly in Vietnam. The rationale behind continuing that war was that the US needed to fight the War on Communism. The war supporters made all kinds of arguments why it would be a terrible thing should the US withdraw. None of those terrible things happened. Now the same people, our hawks, make the same arguments about the War on Terror. They're even less valid than those made in the Cold War and Vietnam years. Also, McCain being a survivor of POW torture, now promoting the US's exclusion from the Geneva rights agreements, now allowing govt. personnel to torture our POWs. I'm baffled on his stands on both the war and torture.

Host_DonnaA 5 years 100 years it's when they don't need the oil any more we will leave. I am sick of war and this one is the worst with the way it has been handled. Yes, and Dick Cheney believes that the insurgents are in their last throes. People will believe just about anything they are told.

I wonder why he didn't say that before, why he said we could be there 100 years. While I understand we have had military presence in may countries, and that is how he explained it away, but I don't think that was the original intent. And sure we could win the war by 2013, maybe sooner, but we need to change the strategy immensely if we're going to win at all. And what will be the cost?
