our President is taking on a noble journey through the forest of health care legislation. in this magical forest lurks the goonie-bot right wing corporate GOP trolls. the GOP goonie-bots have only one objective and that is to crush any sort of public plan that competes with private industry to insure people. there among the goonie-bot trolls is a faction of former physicians, who have abandoned their practice for the more lucrative job of working in government where private corps pay them well to wield the evil sword of profit for health. one of these goonie-bot trolls is Philly "the Silly Hill Billy" Gingrey. watching cspan today and republican rep phil gingrey was doing his straight line dance to the GOP marching band, i couldn't help notice how often ole' philly strayed from reality. he wants reform but he lacks any basis in reality to achieve this. he's vehemently against any sort of gov plan that would compete with private insurers. his claim is that "gov plans just don't work!" and he used medicare and medicaid as his examples. his silly talking points include, doctors aren't getting paid fairly by medicare, ignoring the fact that private insurers now dictate the overwhelming majority of payments to Drs, thru supplemental and advantage plans. recently US Health Care (the largest medicare contractor as per enrollment) said that this company should be allowed to eliminate Drs who, US Health Care thinks, charge more than other Drs. and US Health Care should also be allowed to eliminate procedures that any Dr finds necessary, yielding to in house staffed medical practioners who get paid directly from US Health Care, to make all coverage determinations, regardless of outcome to patients.....which includes death. PHilly goes on to say how horrible Medicare is for its enrollees, but he ignores the fact that 99% of all eligible TAKE IT! almost no one turns it down...this horrible torture of taking medicare is close to always taken by its eligibles. one last point. if gov sponsored plans are so fucking horrible, why isn't Philly the Silly Hill Billy giving up his PAID FOR HEALTH CARE THAT HE RECEIVES FROM THE GOVERNMENT THAT WE FUCKING PAY FOR!!?? ANY REPUBLICAN WHO STATES A HORROR STORY ABOUT GOV SPONSORED PLANS, SHOULD BE FORCE TO GIVE UP WHAT US TAX PAYERS GIVE THEM FOR FREE! as soon as all of the GOP, all decide they no long will take their free health coverage, given to them and their families, that the government and tax payers provide, at that point they may tell their boogie man stories of the pain they experience being subjected to having free health care for all those years. this of course separates the dems who are trying to get gov sponsored plans. therefore the almost certain compromise that the GOP may offer, that dems must sacrifice their coverage too, is off the table entirely as of now. anyone in the GOP want to explain why the GOP congress still keeps their gov sponsored plans? -- 100

I have an ICU nurse in the family... I've seen her break down crying because of tens of thousands spent keeping corpses breathing so some asshole can collect a check while a woman down the hall slowly dies because the same insurance doesn't cover necessary tests and procedures as "experimental." Our inability to let our dead go, and the ghoulishness of the insurance companies is both staggering and sickening.

GOP talking point...still whatever: employers who don't offer health care to employees will be hit with an 8% tax. this will cause less hiring in our hurting economy. RESPONSE: the actual costs employer's now pay for for employer sponsored health insurance are well over 8%! the massive savings of an 8% tax as a penalty as opposed to the prohibitive costs of paying for employee health or having employees not covered at all is staggering to the point that: John Bonehead Boehner AS OF THIS MOMENT SHOULD BE FORCED TO SURRENDER HIS GOVERNMENT SPONSORED HEALTH COVERAGE FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY!!!! i'm sick of GOP hypocrites in congress gathering all the benefits for themselves and their faimilies at my expense. THE GOP MUST BE FORCED TO GIVE UP THEIR COVERAGE AS OF THIS MOMENT!!!! -- 100

> Obama and the Democrats Healthcare Package is State > Sponsored Euthanasia..... Some day soon, Americans are going to have to wake up to dealing with end of life issues. It's harder to get a patient into hospice than it is to get the hospitals and insurance companies to spend $500,000 in end of life care. -- Jane HBO Forums Host

> Obama and the Democrats Healthcare Package is State > Sponsored Euthanasia..... From the Congressional Research Report Spending on health care in the United States has increased from 7.2% of GDP in 1970 to 12.3% in 1990 and 16.2% in 2007.8 Barring changes in law, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projected in 2008 that it would rise to 25% of GDP in 2025 and much higher levels beyond. CBO has cautioned that ?as health care spending consumes a greater and greater share of the nation?s economic output in the future, Americans will be faced with increasingly difficult choices between health care and other priorities.? What part of this do YOU not understand? This isn't a matter of politics, it is a matter of national survival. Why do you hate America? -- The trouble ain't that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain't distributed right.

And Wierdly it was the 911 terrorist attacks that put businesses on the defensive. Now we have real reason to suspect corruption in big business and it is like they could not have planned better for their protection!!!! -- promote the best News outside the US Franchise.

wow I blogged about a friend jokingly in an imagined future taking a gun to an insurance company!!!! >If you try to go in person to talk about some issue with your health insurance company, it's like visiting a prison. Thick bullet proof glass in the entry way. No receptionist out there. A camera sees you, asks you to show ID, they size you up for potential risk before letting you come into the badge reader protected door. -- promote the best News outside the US Franchise.

LJ me too! And millions of Americans have even more livid inducing stories and experiences. That's the reason I'm optimistic a national HC plan will pass this time. The greedy insurance companies were given enough rope during the Bush years to finally hang themselves. If you try to go in person to talk about some issue with your health insurance company, it's like visiting a prison. Thick bullet proof glass in the entry way. No receptionist out there. A camera sees you, asks you to show ID, they size you up for potential risk before letting you come into the badge reader protected door. It's pretty damning that they have to provide that level of security from their own angry customers.
