Osama bin Laden, founder of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States and has been a member of both of FBI's most wanted lists since 1999. Al-Qaeda has expanded to a dozen or so disparate terrorist groups living and training in some 40 countries. Currently, there are many rumors regarding the strength and viability of both Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. According to a letter received by military intelligence in 2005, sources indicated that both bin Laden and Al-Qaeda were "weak" and "have many of their own problems".
Given these circumstances, how important do you still think it is for Osama bin Laden to be killed or brought to justice?
A) Remains a top priority.
B) Important, but no longer a priority.
C) Nice if it happens, but no longer a goal.
D) After failing at it for so long, turning bin Laden from a living martyr into a dead one would probably hurt us more than help.

Since this thread has gone wildly off-topic (as usual), I'd like to bring it back on course for the moment by seconding the statement above, and voting "D".
And yes, sorry to disappoint the more conspiracy-minded here -- you might turn out to be correct in the end, if we ever reach the end -- but for now I choose to keep my response within the parameters of conventional wisdom (an oxymoron, I know!) and assume that bin Laden was behind 9/11, and is still alive (though not at all well).
P. S. - "Oxymoron" also happens to be my nickname for Rush Limbaugh.
