Shee;
The debate last night (10/30) showed a general kookiness of the Dems that always seems to show up and derail them. Aliens, fetus workers, and the like.

Brook;
Yea, I know where you're coming from. But it's coming from both ends. I work with a GOP party marcher. All arguements go back to "F the Dems" and "Clinton with his cigars" and the like. All things not GOP are automatically derided and dismissed. I know there are the same in the Dems camp and I always worry about rubber stamping our allegiences along party lines.
I personally will not do this. I will take the candidates on an individual basis and vote for the best that I find, be that Dem or GOP or Independent. After the last few debates, that might be Independent tho circumstances might force me to do just as you say you are going to do. If one of the parties nominate someone I feel could hurt the US, I might go along party lines to give an electable alternate my vote.

I hate this.

You forgot Mike Huckabee, who believes that if we didn't abort we wouldn't have to deport [immigrant workers].

He thinks that all the aborted "babies" would have grown up and taken jobs that other Americans refused to do. One of those aborted "babies" would probably have found the cure for cancer. (Never mind that this administration has cut funding for cancer research.)

Normally, I'd agree with you, POHP - I think it's ridiculous to vote for anyone based on their race or gender, *however*.... given the police state we've lived in for 7 yrs, and given the both laughable AND nightmarish Republican candidates, I'm perfectly comfortable voting for WHOEVER gets the Dem nomination (not that I like my choices necessarily, but they are what they are).

We really have no choice in the matter - if there's any hope of moving this country back to center, we have to vote Democratic. It's not even like there's a viable Repub choice - ironically, I didn't think McCain was such a bad choice 7 yrs ago. Looking at him now, he's totally off the rails of a crazy train.... and who else is there? Giuliani? Over my dead fetid body. Thompson? Over my dead lobotomized body. Romney? Over my dead magic-underwear wearing body.

Voting in the primary election is one thing.... but when it comes to the general election, my vote will go to Hillary/Edwards/Obama - whoever the hell the candidate is. JMO....

Aaarggh!!!!

That's the death of democracy. If Women vote for a woman because she's a woman, if blacks vote for a black because he's black, if Dems and GOP vote party because of affiliation then representation is skewed. It just makes you sex, race, or party apologists.

Not that I believe the black/woman angle. Americans haven't shown me that they are progressive enought to vote for a woman or a black in such a high position. Even the women and blacks. Party apologists will and that's the maddening thing.

We're all heading into winter.

Who knows what kind of monster storms are coming.

You know, where's the fun in all this?

The truth is, even I feel uncomfortable around BM's boards too.

I don't argue on the board anymore.

I only mentioned a little but haven't make any jokes about Blackwater.

I tried to stay away from horny and sex talks. I didn't even mention the Brits when mail order bride and Arabs was in the conversation.

The thought of being watched kind of killed all the fun and what's the point begins to set in.

Some fellow just wrote a book about Gerald Ford's memoirs, and I guess he made some comments about the Clintons. He was on Olberman last night, and it turns out that Ford actually worked with Hillary when she was just in college.

His comment was that Hillary was really a Republican in her views.

Bill Maher WRONG: "It's not in the Constitution... it's an Amendment... written by a political hack."

Truth: It is in the Constitution. Article II, Section 1. No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

--------------
Martina Navratilova WRONG: "excluding John McEnroe.. as President, ... he was born in Germany...his parents are American, he is American.

Truth: Title 8 Section 1401c of US Code says: Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.

This is good news for McCain, as he was born in the Panama Canal Zone.

I like Maher, too bad he confidently butchered the facts.

Edwards, if not Hillary and I already ruled out Clinton, so it's Edwards for me.

It's Obama if Edwards falls out through some scapegoating or something crazy like how Ron Paul solidified his position on abortion.

For some reason if Obama needs to be taken out, then the next choice will probably be Colbert, and if that choice has to be taken out, then I'll forfeit my vote.
