agreed manny, deadwood required a few screening to digest the import of the dialogue. al's soliloquys with the chief were straight out of "alas poor yorick"

( Mad Men ) "There are details in it that continue to astound me."
I was there and I never saw liquor in offices. I did see 4 hour lunches where executives got sloshed and bored everyone to death and made the rest of us finally realize that we really didn't have to worry about all those jobs being neglected back on our desks thanks to the "phony fucking deadlines".
Also, the show, while entertaining, doesn't seem to have much regard for editing and continuity. Previously unseen characters casually appear and disappear without an explanation.
Otherwise, a very good show and I'm waiting for the inevitable big disaster.

... might try that....I am a Mad Men addict..ever since first lived in NY, had the Sunday evening treats served up by HBO...nowadays as not so frequent visitor I am limited in what I can keep up with...Mad Men on AMC and Entourage
..I wish The Wire had kept going for ever and also Deadwood deserved another series, as did Carnival, ( the script writing and particularly the use of "heavy" old English in Deadwood ( with complex sentence structures ) was extraordinary

It's shocking. And I just finally figured out that the characters are the ages of Boomers' parents, in other words, like watching your mom and dad as youngish adults, for many viewers. I can barely watch how the kids are dealt with without feeling shitty. Good job, writing team.
