Bill , will you please have Jim Marrs, Lou Dobbs, and the author/producer of the Zeitgeist movie on your show. we/you talk about current events, we need to start talking about the future and what the banks and the elitist have in store for the entire world in the future. Remember to no avail ,and not too many people know, is that Bush has already put into play the Northern Union. What does this mean for us as a nation? Are they really trying to make a one nation world ? tanx Bill , Jeff Lebowski

Bill, you can't find the Democrat Party's balls because they're on Dennis Kuscinich. You are spot on about water waste. Brad, we are Christians just like you, you are spot on. All, follow the Health Hysteria money and you'll find lots of Dick Army lobby $. Rachael Maddow's doing a good job covering it. All, instead of denying health care to unhealthy people, why not tax unhealthy food, drink, smoke, bullets, for the health costs they create? Dana, most excellent film. Hope CNN (Fox Jr.) picks it up !!!

While I enjoy your show I found Ashtons remarks about not wanting to pay for the person who doesnt eat properly total B.S. So all of you eat nothing but healthy food??? What do you classify healthy? Organic? Im a full vegitarian as I have an extreme respect/love for animals.I also know the antibiotics and steroids they pump into confined livestock is not a good thing to injest....but these are only MY reasons. Do you fully believe that when you buy organic that is what you are getting? It is very hard to grow fully organic......Ive done it. One thing to remember Ashton, these same individuals that you claim are not worth the money to help insure are also the ones who buy the theatre tickets to go see a movie that you are in ,so that you can make the big salary. They may buy that unhealthy popcorn with all the melted butter on it and those unhealthy sugar snacks to eat while they watch the movie.....but it is their two hour escape to get away from that thirty thousand dollar a year job that is bearly making ends meet................

Dear Bill, I am not really replying to any specific topic. I am barely computer literate, and couldn't get to y'all any other way. First of all, your show is fabulous. Without you, Rachel Maddow, Jon Stewart, and S. Colbert, I wouldn't know where to get news on TV. The July 31 show was excellent--the conservative guy's body language was hysterical! I want to submit my idea for childhood education. I'm a retired teacher(K-First Grade). The ignorance about child rearing always astounded me. If a parent didn't have good parenting and/or a basic understanding of child psychology, s/he didn't have a clue how to raise a child. Even the ones who are loving, and want to do a good job--need expert help. Here's my plan: *4 years of compulsory education in high school. We make them take 4 years of Math, English, Social Studies, etc. What could be more useful? *the curriculum would include child development, basic social skills within the family and community, necessary life lessons in things like budget and other grown-up stuff, child psychology, etc. The kicker? Senior year would consist of hands-on experience with babies that the careless students have: real live babies crying, pooping, etc. to promote real life problem-solving as well as birth control education and (hopefully) caution about sexual behaviors. Of course, this class would need a high pupil/teacher ratio, any maybe a psychologist and aides or volunteers to help. *lots of new money. Take it from the gajillionaires, "bad" corporations, the war chest. I don't care where it comes from. It would save $$$ in the long run. What about people who say they won't have children, and say it won't benefit them in the future? Bullshit! Who doesn't come into contact with children? Please read this, and pass the idea along to someone who can think outside the box. Thanks! Carol

There is also the question of what IS an unhealthy lifetstyle- do I want to pay for someone injured rock climbing, cycling, skiing, walking near traffic any more than Ashton wants to pay for Big Mac eaters? If we're going to choose whose lifestyle is to be covered by insurance, then we'll have to be told which lifestyles are acceptable. I don't want that and I don't know who does.

I also like the argument that no one wants a bureaucrat between them and their doctor- I have an employer (that chooses what to include in insurance policies) and an insurance company who decides how little they will pay. Why should mind one more person?

Wow. This was my first time watching "Overtime" and I'm completely disappointed. There were 640 questions submitted, and Maher presented only one, a real softball. I'm also not enthused about watching yet another panel 100% comprised of white men debate the future of a society in which they are such a numerical minority ? 38% ? though, if you look at Congress and governorships, still an overwhelming policy-making majority. I look to shows like Maher's to give room to voices our capitols do not. It would have been nice if Maher had made room for anyone from the other 62% of the country. And as you get ready to dismiss me as "politically correct," why don't you just accuse me of witchcraft or communism, too? Go three for three on the traditional ways of trying to discredit someone without actually addressing their points.

Bill, Why don't you have Noam Chomsky appear as a panel guest on your show?

Bill, Why do you think that the Republicans are still conjuring up false notions of "socialized medicine" by trying to equate them to the Axis Powers, STILL, after many intellectuals have disproved that claim and cited that these systems were called "Socialized Health care" as a misnomer? A poll this year showed that there was a correlation between lower crime rates and happiness when Health-Care was single-payer. Oddly enough, the same countries were atop: France, Austria and Scandinavia. They never compare "Socialized medicine" to the other effective proper examples like the Scandinavian countries and France. Why?

let's ease up off Kutcher's dick about it. What he's saying is that if the individual isn't going to make some sort of effort to live a healthy lifestyle, then he doesn't want to pay for them, and they don't deserve free healthcare, which is true. I'm sure he understands that if you live in poverty you take what you can get. The problem that arises is that most of those living in poor neighborhoods also have poor governments and poor school funds. The poor in America are in fact dumber than the rich, it sucks and I know nobody wants to admit that, but its true like it or not. Money = better text books, better teachers who demand higher salaries, and better facilities. But just because you are poor it doesn't mean that you have to smoke, or do drugs, or eat Mcdonalds hamburgers, or any of that shit. Even Mcdonalds offers healthy options at a reasonable price now. Our president went from living below the poverty line to becoming the president of the united states, so let's end all this bullshit. Poor people are not as invintive or scrappy and have very little idea about what a healthy diet is or how cheap and easy it can be, everyone can afford to eat healthy. Poor people just aren't educated on what eating healthy is/means. sorry if you don't like to hear it, but it's true, I lived it. p.s. eating healthy is cheaper than eating meat and fried crap. buy a healthy living cookbook and you'll realize that eating healthy costs 25% of what it costs to eat shit. you don't have to buy organic to eat healthy, you just have to give it some effort and not be a lazy parent/person. Bad habits and "genetic" health problems like heart disease are passed from generation to generation because nobody wants to admit they have been living an unhealthy lifestyle for a majority of their life. deal with it, make the change, evolve. -- Edited by brtcobalt at 08/15/2009 1:07 PM PDT -- Edited by brtcobalt at 08/15/2009 1:16 PM PDT

I can see Ashton Kutcher never been poor. And i can see that he does not have a clue about how the 1 precent of the rich that have all the money create the poor and want people to be poor. Ashton Kutcher probably thinks that poor people want to be poor or are all drunks and druggies, or are mentally ill. BULL. I liked Ashton Kutcher before this, for a really smart guy he is pretty DUMB

In response to Ashton Kutcher's comment about instating an emphasis on wellness into the healthcare program... From a glance, this sounds like it makes sense. Let's put a positive spin on healthcare...we'll reward you for being/getting healthy! However, this ignores one major social fact. Ashton, I'm not sure you are aware that within what is categorized as the "poverty class" in America, there are higher rates of smoking, drinking, drug use, eating poorly, not exercising, coupled with higher divorce rates and lower education rates, just to name a few. However, the reason for this is not necessarily that these people are choosing to be "unhealthy," rather it can be attributed to the high stress lifestyle that is experienced when you are LIVING IN POVERTY! These people often do not have the choice to have a gym membership, buy organic food, take vacations, go to a therapist, get medication to help with their medical problems, etc. So therefore, by establishing a system such as this, you are further placing these people at a disadvantage in society, adding to the growing list of problems for those living in the lower classes of America. And Bill...I have never seen a sociologist on your show. Why? Sociologists are at the forefront of modern social thought in the world. Maybe if people in America would turn their attention to a sociologist's opinion rather than a psychologist's opinion, we would be a lot better off. Oh, but wait, I guess I forgot that this is America, and after all, it's all about me... Bill, I challenge you to create the path and start inviting sociology professors, researchers, etc. on your show so that maybe others will follow. We have a lot to learn and why not start with the people who have studied the rise and fall of societies as well as followed the development and paths of social programs, politics, religion, the economy, gender issues, race relations, education, etc. in America and all over the world? Thank you and I love your show!

Ashton pointed out that why do people who live healthy lifestyles have to pay for those who dont: I would like to know why we can't have a single payor healthcare system. However, I believe each individual should have a health score. (a rating just like credit). That score will then break people up into tears and give indivuals an alloted amount of coverage. Then depending on how much of that coverage they use or number of times they go to the doctor to get a band aid etc. it deducts that from the alloted amount. However if individuals come in under that alloted amount they should recieve a percent of it back on their taxes! For people who choose not to live a healthy lifestyle they can keep the care they have or go to private insurers and risk getting turned down anyway. I believe in preventing issues before they occur but alot of people do not obviously. -- Edited by cwoodruff26 at 08/15/2009 11:32 AM PDT
