Bill,

Can you ask Michael Moore to send me tickets for his movie since his movie is against me paying into the capitalist system to get into the corporate-owned theater?

since the praised 'Reagan years' the middle class has been slowly sinking to lower class in reality. Greed held the '80's and continues to this day - this just didn't happen - give Obama a year. Then judge his progress.

First of all, we do not have capitalism. I call it corporatism and Robert Reich in his book calls it Supercapitalism. Please comment of the following premise that I do not see considered in economic models:

Capitalism is not immoral, but it is amoral. Unscrupulous calitalism has an advantage over ethical capitalism. In the long run the unscrupulous capitalists untimately win unless the system is regulated. With all of the money flowing into the pockets of our elected officials, how can this be fixed?

To many of those I speak to, Employment is the question...the "When, Where and What". What would your advise be to the President regarding "Reemployment" ( Employed People Pay Taxes- Non-Employed absorb Tax outlays)

Is personal consumption in excess of two-thirds of GDP inherently unsustainable? Is it the natural order of affluence?

Why do people ask stupid flat tax questions?

Is mocking allowed on this forum?

What are we supposed to do to change this Governmetnt? Is it too far ingrained with corporate greed to be saved?

Write letters to our douche bag senators and congressmen whom most do not read.

Protest..Its proven we are too lazy to accomplish much more than logging on to a web-site and pacifying our urge of rebellion by writing an ANGRY blog.

The things that need to be done will get us landed in jail.

We agree with all that Bill and Michael say, but whats next. We are angry what do we actually do that will work to change our government? Most of us poor folk couldn't even take off work to protest...

Im thinking its about time we combine the two. Capitalism for the people. Lets put a profit cap on merchandise and services. C'mon, do we really need to make 500% profit. Is ANYONE actually going to spend, or need for that matter, hundreds of millions of dollars? Really? Really?WOW.....I think if the profit margins were lowered, products would be less expensive, and then, people, like myself, can actually afford to buy more. Am I wrong? Can someone tell me how this would not work and "stimulate" the economy?

To Krugman

You mention that the US spends 16% GDP while France only spends 10%... but why does no one mention how the 6% difference between France and the US is equal to about 35% of France's GDP?

Why can't we abolish the stock market?

Every business that is a slave to the stock market has to increase profits at the expense of quality or keeping good employees or any of a dozen things that make a company better, but not necessarily more profitable every year.

Hi Bill,

What is the problem with some Marxist or Communist ideals mixing with our government and social programs. Seeing as how the first definition of Communism is the Community making the decisions.

You talked about where to get the money for health care.
I have the perfect idea.
Remove tax exempt status for all religions and we can pay for health care, both wars, abortions, and guns for all!

We have seen the greatest concentration of wealth since the Great Depression, it is no surprise we are similar economic straights. When are we as a nation going to realize that executives are not worth these obscene salaries, especially when they sacrifice long term stability of their organizations for short term benefits? When are we going to stand up and say no more, when execs vote themselves million dollar bonuses while they lay off middle class workers?
Most importantly, when are we going to realize capitalism is a theory of the flow of money premised on greed, and that our nation must not allow the ill of human traits to trump our better selves? We must have our democratic principles temper capitalist greed, and we can't wait any longer.
