Hello all,
I'm considering joining the military after college and i wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on these 2 service branches.
Some questions i have:
-How is the salary and benefits for both services? I've read somewhere that the marines don't offer a college loan pay back program like the Army does. what can you tell me about paying back loans?
-I heard the marines have a stricter background check on recruits and they have been known to deny ppl who have been charged for assault and crimes like this. Any truth to this?
-In general, is it possible to choose which unit you want to serve in? for example, if i said i wanted to be in the 82nd airborne, would they let me after training and stuff like that?
i don't want this to turn into a army or marine bashing thread so please refrain from doing so. otherwise, i'd really like to hear what you have to say. thanks.

Hey there... I don't really know too much about the branches itself, I'm with a NAVY man... however, I know Rudy Reyes from Generation Kill. I'm sure he would be happy to answer any questions you have regarding the Marines. You can go to his website rudyreyes.com and email him your questions. They have a contact link. I hope this helps... personally, I have friends that are in both branches but from comparing what they tell me... Marines seem alot tougher, that's from what they describe to me! GOOD LUCK!! GET SOME!!
