Hi all!! First time posting on the Generation Kill boards.
I just have to say that I think the series was very realistic. I was in the army for 2 years, right out of high school and I spent 10 months is Iraq, beginning in March of 2003. Watching GK, although it is marines, it puts me right back there.
Which I don't mind, as now, I am a happy army wife to a wonderful husband(who is currently in Afghanistan). Which brings me to the point that I would love to see a sequel focus on Afghanistan.
If you notice one of the quotes in my signature about the jalapeno cheese, I've actually said that, quite a few times!!

A focus on Afghanistan is a great idea. If it could be brought home as well as GK brought Iraq to us, I say go for it.

Yes, I do. We are still over there. My son-in-law to be is a Marine, and is over there, and while things have changed quite a bit since GK started, they are still having experiences, they are still in danger. Maybe shift the focus to Afghanistan? Either way, there is still a story to be told and I think it could work.
I'm all for keeping the focus on the soldiers stories.

Oh come now, have you
heard of The Starter Wife.
Is was supposed to be a
mini-series (just like GK), but
it was so popular, they made
it into a regular series.
Unfortunately, by that time, five
of the actors already had
other gigs so they recast all
but Debra and Judy Davis.
But I don't think Rudy is in
anything now. Maybe they
are thinking about it
GK was better than the Starter Wife.

This is so sad. There are so many
unanswered questions. I was so
interested in this series,yet I don't
think it was realistic. I am sure they
are working on a spin off. I mean Rudy
and all his escapades deserve a
a full hour. Think of all the people he
hit on. You know that a man can
only wait so long. Or what if Rudy
hit on Pappy. They were so close
what if they had a thing going on.
Then again, maybe they all had fun.
Maybe they could blame it on the rain?
I would like to see more action in the
spin off. They can name it, Don't ask,
Don't tell. Anyone agree?
