I apologize in advance but I don't know where to go in the boards to post this:

What an absolutely fantastic television series. It makes you want to rush to the history books to learn more.
Is there no way we can change HBO's mind about continuning the series? I know a successful movie would go a long way, but that a couple of years away.

Just wondering!

Mikalyn, I think that Ptolemy XIII died around the time they portrayed it in the show (47 BC) and that the Ptolemy you are referring too (the one that you said was alive for 3 more years) was his and Cleo's even younger brother Ptolemy XIV (who "co-ruled" with Cleo during that time but actually had no power).

I have more to say on the topic of queen cleopatra. Cleopatra was a strong-willed Macedonian queen who was brilliant and dreamed of a greater world empire. She almost achieved it. Whether her way of getting it done was for her own desires or for the pursuit of power will never be known for certain. However, like many Hellenistic queens, she was passionate but not promiscuous. As far as we know, she had no other lovers other than Caesar and Antony. Many believe that she did what she felt was necessary to try to save Alexandria, whatever the price.

I suggest that you all stop relying on television to explain history and get out a little more. Ceasarion was Ceasers baby and that is why cleopatra named him so. Also, they did not kill little ptolemy right away in reality he came to live in rome with cleopatra (who was ceasers honored guests during the triumphs) for a period of almost three full years. He died of pnemonia that he contracted in rome after returning to egypt for a short time.

You should all read Margaret George's "The Memoirs of Cleopatra." She has written many biographies and not only is this one entertaining, but i believe that her research is very well done.

I think I should have been born back then, and instead of Caesarion and Octavian, me, JustYerAverageJoe, as well as Vorenus, mind you....would have ruled a great Egypt, Rome and made many an alliance with the Greeks and Macedonians! Because your allies count too...you should think outside the box when your king!

Can't you see that the history is already written?...this things have already happened in real life, so you cant blind guess it.

Absolutely, Wicky.
It could have even taken longer.
On horseback, V&P took off after the guys sent to kill Cleo...in midday sun.
[And "hot as Vulcan's dick"...according to Pullo.]
When they got there, it was dark.
Which means it was a pretty long ride....at full clip.

Cleo's little room, carried by all those men....that thing prolly only got maybe 3 miles a day?
It could have taken them 2 weeks or more, to get back to Alexandria.
Cleo would have been well past her fertile days.

Why else would they have shown us all these little clues.

It seemed like the next day or so when she was with Caesar, but I think it took at least a week for her to get to Alexandria. That vehicle was slower than a normal walk and it was many miles.

Just because Cleopatra did it with Pullo when she thought she was ovulating, doesn't mean Caesarion couldn't really be Caesar's son. She might not have really been ovulating yet, when she did Pullo. The egg might've popped the next day, or even the day after she did Caesar.

I have been rewatching season 1 and I can't begin to count the ways in which this was so much richer than season 2.

In viewing "Caesarion" it occurred to me that it is a good thing that LV turned down the princess' order and sent in Pullo. It would have most impolitic for Cleopatra to have had a red-headed baby! :O :^O ;)

Episode 8 is one of the best episodes in the series... I love the snake bracelet Cleopatra is wearing around her ankle when she's in the litter on the night she conceives. It's awesome! Does anyone know of a good jewel merchant?

A lot of women would love to be able to think of Pullo as a handy stud service! ]:)

I note that in the last episode when Vorenas confronted Cleopatra with the fact that Caesarian was not her son she seemed unsure about that herself. My take is that Cleopatra knowing she would seduce Julius Caesar , and soon!, took out some 'insurance' but making use of a handy stud service. So a calculation on her part.
