> The news I have been waiting for: Click here to pre-order it at Amazon. Yeah, I'm interested to see what it looks like. I think it's a good idea to release both seasons together like this since those who would buy Rome on Blu-Ray would most likely be interested in having each season. It's not a bad price, either. -- -- love Caesar; do bad things with him©

Well, there is a danger for this, but consider the fact that through indexing your musings would live in the web until this site is brought down!!!

The thought that "indexing" and so on by various search engines would automatically generate a great many "false views" never crossed my mind. It seems plausible, however. I was never seriously under the delusion that tens of thousands of viewers were studying the scribbles authored by you, me and a dozen or more other stalwarts. I'd like to think that a few others read them but that may not be the case. I notice that the same phenomena can be observed on comparable HBO boards such as Bill Maher's Real Time, True Blood and others. Perhaps there are only a hundred, or so, authentic posters on the entire HBO website, discounting trolls, flamers and paid agents provocateurs. I am fully aware of the capabilities of Blue-Ray. And yes, I did not like "Rome". The series may look gorgeous in this new format but it is not really worth watching unless you check your brain at the door. Now, if you concentrate on Polly Walker's breasts, you may have something there.

Welcome to ROME, marcuslaw. We're pleased you are here. Now education 101: You just suggested that Artezios is ignorant. You'll be hearing from him soon. Best wishes! I hope you'll continu to visit the site. If you liked the fun and interest the series generated, then you'll find a lot of people here like yourself. Blessings! -- Fortune favors the bold.

I'm still waiting for an explanation as to why aretzios feels it is a waste of plastic. Did he not like "Rome" or is he simply ignorant of the major advantages of Blu-ray over DVD and how this series will like jaw-droppingly good on the new format? -- Edited by marcuslaw at 05/10/2009 4:04 AM PDT -- Edited by marcuslaw at 05/10/2009 4:04 AM PDT

I'm glad that Rome has been successful enough that they are releasing it on Blu-RAY. Wonder if there would be any additional extras? *popcorn* -- Now...let's have some fun. I am resolved to renounce embarrassment in favor of enjoyment -- and a certain elevation of the spirits which is occasioned by witnessing the human body liberated from its earthly shackles. By the way, in the previous post I gave you my explanation for the number of "views" a thread or a post engenders. It is just the mechanism of the web that creates these views. A far better way to understand the real read frequency of any page are far more accurate mechanism (some of which have been recently developed). In some of the web forums (such as the Google Newsgroups), a forum is rated for real traffic and traffic is denoted as "rare", "moderate" etc, etc.... There is little doubt that in this forum, traffic is rare to minimal. Unfortunately, -for understandable reasons- HBO did not build a "traffic reporting tool" for this forum (possibly because they do not want to advertise that some of their series have bombed) but I am sure that HBO does have these numbers somewhere. Have a nice weekend.

A search for anything that may incorporate this thread even if one never gets to read it qualifies as a "read". As you well know, searches in Google generate thousands of hits most of which are never read (usually people do not check anything beyond the first couple of pages). Another way of generating hits is that all search engines scan the web regularly for indexing purposes. Even if nobody sees a particular message, this message would have been indexed by a huge number of search engines here and abroad. This would generate the "views" that you guys think they are real. They are not.

The views are created by a variety of mechanisms, not only (and not predominantly) by members of the forum. From what I can make here, there are 4 or 5 members who post anything and a couple of incidentals. Now, I made a small remark totally consistent with my views and it was not an attacking post in any way. But it got a rise out of you, this is for sure. Calm down. Had I call the new guy names (which I do not do) or assaulted his intelligence, then, you may have had something to complaint about.

Besides, what does the number of views have to do with behaving courteously to newcomers? Or others, for that matter. Cheers, Nomad -- "Hello, ladies." Atia http://www.punishermovie.com/

Aretzios, can't you see this guy made his very first post about his blu-ray news, and he made it on a board where he had every expectation of having his news greeted in a positive light? He might even have imagined himself welcomed to this site. What a concept, neh? Your curmudgeonness vis a vis Rome may be amusing in the right place and with the right people, but you did this man a wrong. Yep! You did! As for you, marcuslaw, welcome to Rome and thank you for the news. It's very welcome, indeed. Please consider us a family, marcuslaw, and Aretzios as the curmudgeonly uncle we all must endure. In the olden days, when families dealt with these things more effectively, he would simply have been confined to the attic. Nomad -- "Hello, ladies."
