Friends, Romans, Countrymen, Here they are! A very special thanks to Lady C. who was kind and graciou enough to let me tap into her photobucket site. I have tried my best to give a brief explanation for each picture, but if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. I included a few of Tabusiris Magna, where Zahi Hawass has been excavating. Enjoy! http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee153/LadyCalpurnia/ -- Fortune favors the bold.

james, I am unsure if Abu Simbel was featured in the Mummy movies. I decided that of all Egyptian Kings, Ramses II must have been on some serious ego-trip! I met an Egyptologist who was a real jerk. He was a brilliant man, but definitely had hang-ups about a woman (me) asking more detailed questions than he was used to getting from typical tourists. Out of curiosity I asked him who his favorite ancient ruler was. You guessed. Ramses II!!! -- Fortune favors the bold.

Adored all your photos Hyker, especially interested in the Philae Temple in Alexandria, hadn't seen that before. How lovely of you to share.

Being a lover of all things Greco-Roman, I always get excited about Classical architecture, whether I'm in Rome or Washington DC! This trip, when I saw how architects over 3000 yrs. ago styled columns after their beloved lotus blossoms, it almost choked me up. There was the earliest nationalism in architecture I'd ever seen. These people loved their land, desert and all. They were proud of their heritage. So long ago.........it's that type of thing that strips away years from an archaeological site to make it vibrant and alive for me. -- Fortune favors the bold.

Relaxed, for sure! Didn't want to leave. Why is it that vacation time always goes so FAST when the rest of our work-a-day lives drag endlessly on? -- Fortune favors the bold.
