I don't know if there is already a thread about James because I am new and there are too many threads to go through and see so I am creating one now. I LOVE the beard!! I read a book on Cleopatra, historical fiction mind you, much like our beloved Rome, but he is just as I pictured MA.

I was knocked over by Purefoy's absolutely brilliant performance as Antony. He would be perfect as James Bond.

I'm looking forward to seeing "Manchild". Erm, well...anything with Purefoy in it. I wonder when it starts airing? Anyone know?

this is in reply to Pipskip's question,"Does any one know his next project?" He has done a pilot for a new comedy series called "Manchild" ! He'll probably be the best thing in it ! John Corbett & Kevin Smith are also in it so hopefully it's for American TV! If it's on BBC, we won't get to see it for a long time in the U.S. James has done some other movies: Vanity Fair with Reece Witherspoon, and The Mayor of Casterbridge with Ciaran Hinds & Polly Walker (Caesar & Atia) in the 3 lead roles. You can check on his work at www.imdb.com: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0700856/

How about nominating James Purefoy for Best Actor Emmy. He depicted Marc Antony perfectly: charming, conniving, brave, foolhardy, dangerous, a soldier's soldier, a lady's man, a poor politican, but a great leader in battle.

Since I live in the States I hadn't heard of this actor until the HBO series. I will say that I was so impressed by his acting ability that I searched out his bio. Cudo's on an outstanding performance! I hopeeeeeeeeeeee Rome continues although with all the main characters gone especially my favorite James Purefoy gone I don't know how they could improve on the show. Linda Abernathy South Carolina

The "Cast & Crew" bios (and wikipedia) just confused me, as I didn't see where "Mark" came from (as his name was "Marcus Antonius"). Evening all, I'm deeply inlove with James Purefoy. I think that Ciaran Hinds is the better actor but James as totally breathtaking. I think his best work Is Episode 2, How Titus Pullo... and Episode 21. Astonishing
