Does anyone know what the name of the wristbands the men wore on Rome? Mark Antony always wore leather & metal ones. I've been searching for anything like that online, but they're all small, 2inches or so in width, so I must be entering the wrong title. Arm guards & wrist cuffs don't seem to be the correct title.

Hyker is a great wealth of knowledge as are many others here. You definitely asked at the right place. Don't be a stranger!

Here is a wrist band inspired by True Blood. It's not my taste but perhaps it would be a nice gift for someone's favorite vampire centurion

Mark has offered several answers that may be terms that could fit. The one I have researched and used in my own work is "armillae". Not only were they "protective" on the field (as used by archers, etc.), they were often awarded for valor!

Aw....I keep looking to see if Valens will come back. I love talking about Roman costumes! I hope at least they checked back for the information.

Very recently, a tablet was discovered at a Roman archaeological site which appears to have been entitled "Equites' Quarterly." Some of the text was damaged, but there appears to be an illustrated article about "Manly sartorial accessories guaranteed to raise your virility quotient." One illustration survived in tact and they appear to be something very much like what Pullo and Vorenus are wearing here: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u235/NomadsPics/Rome/ndvd531xm6.jpg No! Don't thank me! I'm here to help. Nomad

Oh.....however...if you are looking for a modern term in order to locate a supply...I believe they are referred to as arm bracers. Typicaly used by archers.

I believe you are talking about the manicae. While these were generaly leather or metal full arm protection, I am also finding this term used in reference to wrist, hand or arm protection.
