I reach out to the hens [and cocks] of the HBO Threads and that wonderful haven that is the SCBG. Our poor dear darling TitusPullo has been having a wee bit of a hard time lately. There is that nasty rumour circulating...I'm afraid *I* started it. Well, the one that says Titus is old and decrepit anyway. But it isn't true and I apologise from the heart of my bottom dearest Titus. Camamar recently suggested a Thread dedicated to Him and I thought "What a jolly good idea" [but then I'm often squiffy on Pimms and Prosecco and everything seems a jolly good idea!]. I considered a title of 'The TitusPullo Love-Fest Thread' as inspired by dear Nomad. But I feared it would last no longer than two minutes [just like TitusPullo's lurve]. I also considered the title 'The Be Nice To TitusPullo Thread' but alas, I know how people might struggle to post anything on that one and it might sink without trace faster than Evander’s thumb down the Cloaca Maxima. So. Lacking in any other inspiration, I reckoned instead that as many of us were waiting in that queue for Titus, ‘The Line for TitusPullo’ would be the perfect name for it. Yeah! It’s b*llocks I know but it’s now the place to make mention of all things Titus, if you can be arsed to. So forget RayVing. This is where we all wear PulloVers. *Snork* And I found the most wonderful literary source, the anonymous Priapeia, to open this celebration of all things TitusPullo: Obscenis, peream, Priape, si non uti me pudet improbisque verbis sed cum tu posito deus pudore ostendas mihi coleos patentes cum cunno mihi mentula est vocanda And if anyone can translate, a large glass of anything you fancy is waiting for you over at the SCBG *Snork* -- Nil satis nisi optimum RV, PV, BB, DSO and Bar - oooh yes please - Pimms and Prosecco!

Hey! Happy Be Nice to Titus Day! (I suggested it somewhere or other, which prompted Labia to start this thread.) Hurry! Take advantage of our Going Out Of Business sale! Who knows how much longer people can be persuaded (can they, still?) to be nice to Titus? *ducks* *legs it* -- Now...let's have some fun. I thought to use this passage from Book V, section 44 of Caesar's Conquest of Gaul as an excuse to bump Titus's thread, thread bumping being among his favourite fetishes. ![]:)](http://boards.hbo.com/images/emoticons/devil.gif) In the legion were two very brave centurions named Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus, both of them nearly qualified for the first grade. They were always disputing which was the better soldier, and every year the competition for promotion set them quarrelling. When the fighting at the entrenchment was at its height, Pullo cried: ?Why hesitate, Vorenus? What better opportunity do you want to prove your courage? Today shall decide between us.? With those words he advanced outside the fortification and rushed into the thickest place he could see in the enemy?s line. This brought Vorenus too over the rampart, hastening after his rival for fear of what everyone would think if he lagged behind. Pullo stopped a short way from the Gauls, hurled his spear and transfixed one of them who was running forward from the ranks. The man fainted from the wound, and his comrades covered him with their shields, at the same time showering missles upon Pullo and preventing him from advancing further. HIs shield was pierced by a javelin, which stuck in his sword-belt; and as the blow knocked his scabbard out of place, he could not get his hand quickly to his sword when he tried to draw it, and was surrounded by the enemy while unable to defend himself. His rival Vorenus ran up to rescue him in his distress, and all the Gauls immediately left Pullo, who they thought had been mortally wounded by the javelin, and turned upon Vorenus. Vorenus drew his sword and, fighting hand to hand, killed one of his assailants and drove the rest back a little; but pressing on too eagerly he stumbled down a steep slope and fell. It was now his turn to be surrounded, but Pullo came to his aid; both of them escaped unhurt and after killing a number of the enemy returned to camp covered with glory. Thus Fortune played with them in their struggle for pre-eminence: bitter rivals though they were, each helped and saved the other, so that it could not be decided which was the more deserving of the prize of valor. Cam... I'm so glad you're feeling better. I hadn't heard you were sad. Hooray for Titus for helping you to feel better, whether he admits or not! LadyC -- Show her what she's done.

I just finished watching the second half of Augustus starring Peter O'Toole and Charlotte Rampling. Good flick. Just before the end credits roll, there is a dedication: For Titus. Nahhhh, it couldn't be........could it? -- Hic Habitat Felicitas
