Polly Walker is radiant.

Thanks to some encouragement by mjmd (and a good title idea) I decided to dedicate a thread to Polly. Hopefully this thread can function as a place for news on her much like the Kevin, Ray, and James threads.

When I watched season 1 of Rome (on demand, weeks before season 2 aired) I adored PW because of her humorous and devilishly fun acting: not because of her looks. Only when season 2 began did I suddenly realize that to me she was the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen. Her career preference to eschew stardom and celebrity in favor of raising her children while maintaining a purely natural and healthy beauty makes her all the more irresistible. This is why I can't get enough of PW.:) Any of you feel remotely similar?

(My apologies if some of you grow weary of my constant praising of this woman but she is the first to truely blindside me in my young life)

Back to Polly, anyone see her in the BBC mini series "State of Play"? it was the one the movie version with Russell Crowe was based on.

The mini is GREAT! I gave it 10 stars on IMDB and Polly was excellent in it. It had a large cast, but over the course of 6 episodes you get to see a lot of her.

I recommend this to everyone, it was fast paced with a great cast including James McAvoy and Bill Nighy.

Phil Mickelson lost :_| He is a favorite of mine. I saw him play years ago and met him after the tournament in LA and he was the nicest guy, and his wife has cancer now...:(

It'd be nice to see him in contention like this consistently.

Make that 3 Good Rounds, but then again who's counting. He's got a chance to make one of the greatest comebacks in the history of sports, not a very good chance, at least this week, but a chance.

Edit: With that said, Tomorrow is a day of destiny. As Peter O'Toole said in Lawrence of Arabia, Take No Prisoners. Go out tomorrow Duvy and Kick some Butt. Its there for the taking. GO DUVAL!!!!

I do turn in to watch the majors every year, particular the Masters and the US Open. It's a shame that the weather has played such a big role in this tournament, which apparently is a common trait whenever they play it in the NY area. It's been nice to see your namesake play two fine rounds and reemerge from utter obscurity.

Well, I wanted to make a comment and thought it was a good time to bump this thread. This week all the best pro golfers in the world are gathered at the Beth Page Black course in New York to play the US Open. The US Open is my favorite tournament of the year. I love to watch the US Open because this is usually the one time of the year where they set up a course that makes the best golfers in the world play like normal human beings, a notable exception being Tiger winning at Pebble Beach by 15 strokes. I used to play a lot of golf but haven't in years. When these guys complain about the golf course being to hard, it cracks me up. I always felt what's the difference? They are all playing the same golf course. If the best score is 10 over par, so be it, its all relative.

This is a VERY interesting show! And I hadn't thought I would like it.

Too much to write about now, maybe I'll do a Live Journal review later.

Two interesting factoids about Polly: the director and producers say the fight to cast Polly was the loudest ruckus in the entire production but they got their wish.

Another is they said that her best work was cut for the pilot. Which is a shame, because what IS there is fascinating. Her character is going to be very complex. I saw shades of Atia in this role, mostly because whether her character is a good one or an evil one is ambiguous.

The main actors are VERY good. I don't remember admiring Eric Stoltz so much since Mask. The two young girl leads are amazing actresses, and Pamela Malcomson (Trixie from Deadwood) is in it.

All in all, VERY interesting show. Nerds who think about things like the interface between quantum physics and human consciousness will be stoked. :^O I'll be watching.

I'm just now starting to watch it. A friend told me there wasn't much to the special features...just a few deleted scenes.

Go here!

I've heard there are some deleted scenes featuring among others, Polly's character and the standard commentary track. One interesting factoid from the commentary is that the cost of hiring her caused a huge uproar with the bigwigs at NBC/Universal:^O

Like Nomad, i ordered it but no arrival as of yet. I'm really hoping that I can actually enjoy this show irrespective of Ms. Walker's involvement (which will certainly sweeten the overall deal!) in it.

Thank you for the reminder Nomad.

Has anyone watched the Caprica pilot yet? I'd love to hear a review (no spoilers).

Polly Walker was in "Numbers" this evening. There was a certain chemistry between her and Peter McNichol (Larry), who hasn't had a girlfriend on the show in a while.

But seeing as how she is filming another series, I doubt if she'll be on this show again. That's too bad because I don't think I'll care for the show she is going to do - not my cup of tea.
