I just wanted to let those of you that might be interested, the soundtrack to Rome is out! I got my copy through Barnes and Noble. It has 23 tracks starting with the Rome title theme. It's full of those haunting melodies and driving rhythms you hear in the background on the series. Great work by Jeff Beal! -- http://www.ancientvine.com

Cammamar, "you got it exact"! I too have purchased the sound track and it's really more stunning now without the visual stuff going on. Being a professional musician, it is more fun listening to it now. I was also impressed at the several times they used the main theme. Didn't even notice it last season, but voila, there it was. Jeff Beal, if you're out there.......I hope you're going to release Season II sometime! -- Fortune favors the bold.

I was tickled when I heard this, TeriKarma. The only spoken words are in this little section. I think they start with MA saying, "I applaud you...You are entering Rome a blood-stained conqueror and yet you are as calm as a cup of water" (...or milk..or whatever he said....I'm sure I got something wrong.) Edited to add: Yes. I got some of this wrong. But I can't be arsed to correct it. :P Then they have Caesar saying "I'm glad I appear so." I think that's when my man GJC says "Gracchus...something more cheerful." My favorite track is the one from Episode 8 -- 'Caesarion'. Ever since I first heard it, I loved the "Egyptian" version of the 'Rome' theme. -- my favorite 'Rome' episode of all, so far... Hey, Those of you who are interested. I just got the soundtrack and it's fabulous. What makes it so great is that HBO must read these threads because last season there were several comments regarding the episode where Caesar (traveling back to Rome) asks his trumpeters to play something more upbeat (sic). It was only a little quip from Caesar, but the music that they started playing was quite unique. Well, lo and behold, between track 6 and 7 on the CD, there's the exact conversation where Caesar asks them to play something more cheerful...and it starts that music. Kudos to HBO for giving us this treat. Niobe's Theme is also a lush composition. TK -- "It's all about the fripping ratings"

How come it's not available at the HBO store? HEY FOLKS, I JUST ORDERED IT ON www.giveline.com FOR $14.98. Click on the music tab and type in Rome Soundtrack. Hope this helps. "It's all about the fripping ratings" -- Edited by TeriKarma at 03/02/2007 6:20 AM

Because you-all told me the CD was out, I went to my provincial Barnes + Noble. They did not have it. So I ordered it. Four days, I guess, before I get it.

I just went on ebay and bought the soundtrack and the first season of Rome for $65.00. Can't wait to get them. I didn't have a DVR to record. They have more on sell right now. FYI

I wasn't really thinking of purchasing it, but did on impulse, at FYE, to show support for the show. I also figured it would be cool to listen to at those times when I had nothing else Rome-related to see or hear. Niobe's Theme...so poignant. Too bad the pix are so small. Inside the jewelcase, though, there is a pic of Atia and Octavia. Why couldn't it be TP & LV? I suppose there's no point in pulling it apart to see if just maybe there is a hidden pic of TP. hmmmm... ooo. What a variety of smiley colors. Just editing to add that I only just started to listen, so didn't want anyone to think I only was moved by the Niobe theme. -- Now...let's have some fun. And this is bloody brilliant! IMO even better than "Gladiator" soundtrack which was awesome. Particulary "Niobe' fate" and "Cleopatra seduces Ceasar" are breathtaking. And "Murder of Julius Ceasar"- truly hunting. And "Vorenus and Pullo"- nice one. -- Edited by Arya at 02/28/2007 12:29 PM
