Tis the season to be sneezing... With so many of us in so many areas of this great Roman world, we never can tell how each other is feeling with this "pandemic" running about. So this thread is to keep each other abreast of our bouts with Swinus Fluvius. I'll start off, I'm healthy, but I have a neighbor boy with it, he's been pretty sick. Also discovered a few evenings ago that one of my wonderful grand-nevy's (he's 3) has it. So we're all shuffling his brother and sisters in different directions hoping to keep them all from getting it. Neighbor boy is recovering slowly. Grand-nevvy, Travis, is handling Swinus fairly well. Temps aren't too bad, coughing not too terrible, he's slowed down a little bit (instead of running headlong into life at 100 mph, he's down to about 95 LOL), eyes haven't glazed over, only one node is extremely large (can see if from a distance of about 5 feet on his neck!). Surprsingly, he's not clingy or whinny, and is actually withholding most of his hugs and kisses from everyone. We shouldn't be hugging and kissing on him while he's got Swinus anyway... but... its like... HE KNOWS! Hope everyone else stays well clear of Swinus... I hears he's a much nastier fellow than Flavious. And though Flavious may not be coming (THANKS Vorenus and Pullo!) Swinus certainly is! LadyC

Woo Hooo.. October is over! The wedding is done, the house is 90% completed (100% for my part of it), the rental is closed, mom and dad's inspection is completed, and my sister has moved in with me. All done! I actually caught a cold on Wednesday and had to leave work. Was ill Wednesday and Thursday, but got just well enough to handle the wedding festivities on Friday and Saturday. Yeah... I'm actually sleeping again. ** A loud pop is heard as LadyC removes the thumb from her mouth and gives everyone a smile. ** LadyC

> Hyker gives Lady C. a pat on the back and suggests we > do another ancient art exhibit in the New Year! Thanks MDF! An art exhibit sounds wonderful. Just you and me for a whole day enjoying the museum... ahhhh sounds like fun. Right now I'm looking forward to about 2 hours of blissful relaxation this evening, so its time to make some hot cocoa and read a nice relaxing book... think I'll read Caesar again. LadyC

> Whoa! You're gonna be one busy Lady C!!! LOL.. and that's not everything! The house assessor is coming out to my parents home tomorrow for a bill consolidation loan they want to get (so helping mom to clean), AND... baby brother also just bought a house in preparation for his marriage, the house needed a lot of work including all rooms needing painting and carpets ripped up (because they were riped up!) and hardwood floors being put down... we did all the work ourselves, yes, me included in that 'we'. And, oh yes, have to finish moving him out of the old house and clean it... TONIGHT... because its being inspected TOMORROW!!!! AND.. his in-laws to be arrive tomorrow night! OH ... almost forgot, the sister I mentioned coming in... she arrives tomorrow night! When it rains it pours... thank goodness for liquid sunshine to help the flowers grow..... Now where is GJC? Bet he's off fighting another war when there's work to be done at the house! Typical.. never around when you need/want him to be. LOL Some body just shoot me ... please.... (pops thumb back in mouth). LadyC -- Edited by LadyCalpurnia at 10/27/2009 9:55 AM PDT

UPdate, Travis is doing better. Unfortunately, his brother got it (the 4 year old), and he's also got a history of asthma so it has hit him harder. Had to be taken to the E.R. via ambulance (He likes ambulances he says they're "cool") due to his respiratory distress. He's doing better and is home. This was 3 days ago, hope to hear more on him soon. In other news, my baby brother (aged 45) is getting married this weekend! weeeeee..... his 2nd daughter will be up for the wedding so I'll finally get to meet my youngest grand-neice Savanna. In 6 more weeks a new grand-nevvy is due... My sister is moving in with me for about 6 months so she can be here for her first grandchilds birth and to help her daughter out. So I just have one question for everyone... is it May yet? (though never a thumb sucker .... pops thumb in mouth) LadyC

I've had plenty of kids sick in my classes due to it. One little girl had it, got better, came back to school, then got sicker with a terrible dry cough. Last Friday night, I had to go to the ER with my Mom (not the flu... she had bp issues). Anyway, when I walked into the place, it looked like the set of a Spielberg film! People lying on the floor wrapped in blankets, folks of all ages and babies, toddlers, and little kids all wearing masks... I was scared to BREATHE!

I had it way back in late July. I really only had one night of a high fever, but the damn thing hung on for days and days. It started with a sore throat, which is normally how I always start getting sick. Despite my best efforts I gave it to my mom, who because of her age probably had some immunity to it; I'm very glad she got it before it became stronger, because she has chronic bronchitis. Good thread topic!

I have heard there are some outbreaks of swine flu in LA area. the vaccine is now available for children between certain ages and the caregivers of infants below 6 months. At the place where I am training we have been passing around something that might be, but might not be swine flu. Headache seems to start it, with throat following. One person who is in late 20/early 30's seemed to get it the worst. I mention this, because people in my age group, 50+, may have some kind of immunity to it due to some flu from our childhood. Personally, if I still had small kids, I would be in a conundrum over whether or not to give them the shot. I have had my annual flu shot, supplies are low in certain places, so get yours now if you plan to. I was again doing work with private flu shot clinics, and they have all been canceled due to lack of vaccine. Thanks for the thread, Lady C. Hope everybody and theirs stay healthy. http://h1n1.findaflushot.com/ -- Edited by PatricianPat at 10/23/2009 8:38 AM PDT -- Edited by PatricianPat at 10/23/2009 8:39 AM PDT

I had some kind of Flu last summer- took me down for over a week with high temperature, sore throat, achy all over, etc etc-I was tested for swine flu (even got quarantined from work for a week) (with Pay) but it was not H1N1- then a month later I had emergency abdominal surgery which took me out for another month- also lost my 16 year old cat Missypuss to kidney failure- but got TWO new cats. I don't post as much as I used to and I poke around on the True Blood site a lot......
