Vorenus and Pullo watched as the herd of women and their wranglers moved off out of sight leading a cloud of curiosity and suspicion in their wake. Pullo turned to suggest to Vorenus that they go have something to eat when he saw his friend staring up at his indignantly. Pullo shrugged and smiled.
"I don't think he likes me."
Vorenus shook his head in hopelessness and stood. Pullo shrugged again.
"Wot?"
As Vorenus made his way through the water to the bank of the creek he spoke in a feign of disgust.
"You could at least have called him 'Sir'!"
Pullo quickly followed his critic to the grass.
"Did you see? There must be four or five daughters and all their help. Even Mother is a looker."
Now Vorenus stopped and faced his friend nodding knowingly at Pullo.
"Titus Pullo, are you ever not in heat? Have you forgotten Setia, never mind the new Governor, their father and the person we will be taking orders from. And I don't ever want to hear you comment about anybody's mother with such lust in your voice again."
"Antony would appreciate the mother. You need to lighten up."
This time Vorenus spoke in dead seriousness and to emphasize his drift, he placed a hand on Pullo's shoulder.
"Pullo, there is nothing but trouble come to Mediolanum today, in more ways than one. And if you think you are going to retire from the 13th and avoid it, my friend you are sadly mistaken."
And Vorenus' declaration was as good as engraved in stone. The sun had not traveled far to the west before word came to the two men that no soldier would leave the 13th in the foreseeable future and that all the Legion would report at first light and assemble before the Governor's House.

We've got to make our votes count now! FLAtRich says that voting site goes down when 10,000,000 votes are reached. The voting count is currently at 9,427,594 total votes! That in only 572,406 more votes! (From what I see, the site tends to get around 23,000 votes per day, so that means in less than 25 days the site should be going down!!!!!! )
VOTE ROMIES VOTE! Let's get that banner before TVVOTE goes down!!!! We are still steadily nipping away at the 50,000 votes banner! Right now we are currently 2005 from 50,000 votes!!!! We need to keep a voting of at least 130+ per day to get that banner before the site goes down!!!

To Recap:
When we last left the heroes of the 13th Legion of Rome, Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus were the main attraction for a group of Romans who had just arrived in Mediolanum. The two soldiers naked up to their thighs in the cold water of the creek that ran behind their farmhouses were not aware of their audience until they heard the giggling of young females.................
Vorenus and Pullo looked over to the bank of the creek simultaneously and saw first, the standard of the 13th Legion, second, a group of unknown mounted soldiers surrounding an older civilian on a large white horse. And from behind this man, they could see a spattering of brightly colored dresses and hear the giggles continue from there.
It was Vorenus who sat down first in the cold water out of embarassment. Pullo, never mindful of people's reaction to his nakedness stood and assumed the posture of attention. It was his beloved standard, after all, no matter who else was there.
"Which one of you men is Vorenus, Governor of this Province in General Antony's absence?"
"Lucius Vorenus", replied Vorenus to the soldier unknown to him who had inquired. "I serve for the time until the return of General Antony."
The man on the white steed now rose out of his saddle to reach his maximum height before he spoke. "Wrong, Vorenus. You are now relieved of your temporary position by order of Emperor Octavian. I am the new Governor."
Both Pullo and Vorenus looked up at the man for a moment, and it took only a moment to tell by his demeanor that this new Governor was trouble. This was no surprise considering he was an appointee of Octavian. It was Pullo who decided it was immediately time to test the waters.
"And you are who?", he spoke with mocking irreverence.
"This is Gabinio", answered the soldier with an air of indignation, foremost trader of the East who has served Rome so well that he has been rewarded with this post."
"Quiet", spat the new Governor. "You must be Titus Pullo." He stared down from his mount at the men with open distaste.
"The Emperor told me much about you. And you Vorenus."
Suddenly a voice from behind spoke quietly, but loud enough for all to hear. "Husband, please, may we make haste to our new home. Business can be conducted there in comfort."
Gabinio at first thought to chastise his wife for speaking, but thought better of it at the moment. There was always later to deal with her. She never understood that courtesy was at times an impediment to power.
"Yes, indeed you speak wisely." He had turned to speak over his shoulder but now turned back to Pullo and Vorenus. "Gentlemen, I would introduce you to my wife, the gracious Lady Calpurnia, but I will save that for a time when you are more worthy of being presented."
Pullo peered under the horse now as he spoke. "And all that lovely tittering I hear, would those be daughters?"
Gabinio sneered menacingly and with a quick jerk of his hands pulled his horse's reins and was gone. The Roman soldiers accompanying him took up positions around the women who were on foot and, as if to herd them, escorted them in a direction away from the men still naked in the creek.

That in only 611,602 more votes! (From what I see, the site tends to get around 23,000 votes per day, so that means in less than 30 days the site should be going down!!!!!! )

I think FLAtRich miscounted this morning. It appears as if the numbers are double what they normally are, but I'm not complaining as they are bringing us closer and closer to the 50,000 votes mark!
