Welcome HBO Hosts and new posters. Let's help the Hosts and newbies get to know us by reposting our faves - the best of Rome forum in its wickedly funny and wild hey day. Dig through those old threads and archives, Romies. You know the ones, The Sewer, Survivor Rome, The Jerriticus Springerus Show, etc. Be sure to give credit to the original poster. If the thread is in the archives, give it a bump. Here's one from The Rome Erotic Writers Workshop thread, posted by Salus: Marc Antony in "Bend Her" (alternate title: "My Ram Has Touched Her Wall") Titus Pullo in "Glad He Ate Her" (alternate title: "How Titus Pullo Brought Down the Republic's Pants") Julius Caesar in "Primus Phallus" (alternate title: "The Swollen Eagle") -- Cum Feris Fera

Is that you, Legatus/Lemniscus Tuborum? I haven't been around this forum much lately, so I never noticed the wooden space ship post, or the pseudo-Legatus. But you're right; until about six months after Season II ended we had some grand, long-winded posts on every imaginable subject, political ramblings, works of fiction, humor threads, riotous flirtations, Sapphic couplings, cat-fights, Roman limmericks, Roman haiku, quotes from old movies, quotes from Sinatra songs, quotes from 17th-century metaphysical poetry, quotes from Suetonius and Tacitus, historical tussles with Aretzios and Beagle, markdowns at Gaul Mart, and so on and so forth. Those were the days. And the veteran Rome posters who are greatly missed: Aureate, Salus, LiviaAugusta, Perth, mjmd, overmedicated, Tallyho, MammariaPendulosa, Nadira, Insy, Sinsy, LuciusVorenus, Milady Bellatrix, Aneidos (Iulus), and others. I'm delighted to see that you haven't disappeared off the face of the HBO map, and hope you'll make an appearance from time to time (as I try to do).

Gracious sakes, you guys! We used to write whole musicals about blind Roman Eskimo dogs of color, and Artesios used to post long, erudite negative reviews. We should have taken over the Rome show, and kept it going, just to keep our posts going. Cheers to all those great old posts, and to all the Romies! [And, I noticed that somebody made a good post a couple of weeks ago under the name Legatus. It's a good post about a wooden space ship, but I do not remember writing it. ???] Cheers, anyway! The Lyde thread has some wonderful stuff. David Duvall is hilarious.

I hardly thought what you wrote was ban-worthy. It was probably too harsh, but it still contained a good point or two. > I was trying to get banned, decided to change my > mind next morning. > > :-P > > Waves**** > > -- > Edited by LadyAugustine at 06/01/2008 7:32 AM PDT

It appears to only be happening while I'm at work, so I suspect its a firewall problem. Just something I'll have to deal with. ::sigh:: LadyC -- Show her what she's done.

Hey Alki, the star ratings are simply a way for you to indicate how much you liked something. For instance, on the date line of each post you'll see "Rate this post" with gray stars. On a scale from 1 to 5, decide how much you liked the post with 1 being not so much and 5 you thought it was super. Run your mouse over the gray stars and you will see them change from gray to gold. When the number of gold stars matches your rating number, click your mouse. You will then get a confirmation of how you rated the post. Once a post starts to receive ratings, gold stars will appear that indicate on average how much the post was liked. This helps the reader too by indicating to them that a post is really good and should be read it. You can also rate member profiles the same way by viewing a particular member's profile where you'll see the gray stars that you can mouse over and click. The average is then displayed below the member's name on posts they make. -- Tim HBO Forums Host -- Edited by Host_Tim at 04/11/2008 12:45 PM PDT
