I made a new topic; I thought we should branch this out to avoid cluttering the VFR thread. Atia wrote > Hmmm, maybe Romies need some assigned writing - How > I Spent my Summer Away from Rome . Some of the > very clever Romies out there must have some thread > ideas. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Fortunately some of our clever Romies still hang around here. But most have migrated to other forums (Bill Maher) or left altogether, apparently permanently. > There is something coming up on the calendar that I think > is worthy of a celebration in the Villa. I have no doubt that your creativity would be up to the task, love. But it looks like nearly all of our friends from the villa's golden days have disappeared, and I certainly wouldn't you to go through the effort of setting up a party no one attends. wickyharpy wrote: > Might have to consider that in some form - at least til > November? > Maybe we could relate present politics to Rome? I just can't be enthused for a political discussion, judging by what the Maher forum is. If we could keep it to civil observations then I'd be all for it but the chances of that aren't very high. The beauty of this forum is that the shouting matches were rare and contained to just a few people. PS Wicky: What gives with your avatar change? Sure, Kima was bad ass (in the first season, anyway) but she was no Atia. Shame Perhaps a peaceful death is what suits the forum best...until maybe, just maybe, HBO and Heller throw us a bone with a movie.

Ghandi Sorry about your troubles there, dragon. And of course we are much in agreement about the critters. Several days after your post it was the anniversary of the day we first brought our late dog home. It was the first time that came around since she died. I cried. And one of our birds died the other day. I saw it just before I left the house in the morning. I took it (dunno if he was a boy or girl bird...but we'd given it a gender-neutral name) out of the cage with solemnity, respect and ceremony, and "buried" it out of sight of the other birds, two of which were the parents of the deceased. I had a bit of a crying fit, and delayed going into work until after the redness & puffiness went down. *sigh* -- Now...let's have some fun. Oh, Mark, I am so sorry to hear of your mother. Even though I plan to live forever, or at least to 150, in the event that the gods foil my plans, I am making all the decisions and arrangements ahead of time, because if I leave this earth, my son will completely lose it, and won't know what to do. So, as usual, I will bail him out one more time. He has been there for me, where my older child turned her back after my mother died. (long strange story here) And your furry child will help you through a lot. its been hell on wheels at work and I have not had time to post like I should. -- The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. I was at least blessed with a sibling who cared enough to help. I'm now making plans so my own children don't have to go through what you apparently have been through. My heart goes out to you. You're clearly the best of sons. xo Nomad -- "Hello, ladies." Atia http://www.punishermovie.com/

I don't have a dog.......but there is a dog that I am the human to. I am wrapped around her little paws. As for the reunion.......perhaps I have hurt too many people to try this. God bless( or the diety of your chioce) I am returning home for a week tomorrrow. It will not make my mother happy but she has 4 other children/ i can't help it if they don't give a crap about their mother dieing alone. My life has been destroyed. It is time for others to share in the devastation.

Wow Dragon! Sounds like you had quite an evening! Am so glad to hear (from reading between the lines) that other than some misplaced furniture and a few puncture holes in the legs (from the cat) that you and your dear family (human and non-human alike) weathered the storm! Take care of yourselves and hope all goes well for you. LadyC > Hurricane Ike visited us last night, and our powerwas > out for 8+ hours, and it blew all my porch furniture > all over the porch. Thank you for your kind words. Of course I have great sympathy for anyone who suffers the loss of love. At my domus, we are of the opinion that dogs are just little people with fur coats. They are a part of my family if one is mine, and upon their death, are mourned as we would mourn a human child. My husband and I couldn not have kids, so our dogs ARE our kids. Sorry for your loss, too. Sounds like you lost your baby near the time I lost mine. -- Fortune favors the bold.
