Also: I rented the SATC movie for $1.00 lol. I used the movie kiosk in the grocery store, it's great! But i kept it an extra two nights because I loved it so much, so it really ended up costing me $3.00 but well worth every penny. That way I was able to watch both the commentary, and the movie a second time. I think if someone were that adamant about 'boycotting' someone's products, they wouldn't 'buy' the DVD at all. Buying the DVD is more permanent, and means watching multiple times so that's actually supporting her product. I would think watching it in a movie theater would be less supportive, but I never do that myself as I prefer just renting DVDs. As for Obama--well he's a great candidate, and I admire her good taste in supporting him. She had the courage to put herself out there and campaign for him, using her fame for a positive reason. I think that's a good thing! At least she chose a decent guy versus. another Bush clone. I do understand a conflict when something you normally like suddenly endorses the opposite side of an issue you are on. That happened when my entire religion campaigned for Proposition 8, which in my opinion was unconstitutional and offensive to remove civil rights from gay people. That can cause substantial conflict, as in not attending church for months. But as for SJP--she does have the right to endorse and support a candidate and have a political opinion, and if it upsets someone that much than they have the equal right to not support her. I don't think she did anything wrong, especially as Obama was clearly the better candidate. I usually try to separate the artist from their political views, as their talent stands alone. But I have to admit I can't stand Tom Cruise after hearing his ignorant stance on psychiatry and his support of a ridiculous, irrational cult.

Well, I happen to think SJP is a brilliant actress, and has good taste in supporting Obama. Why not use her position as a visible actress to support someone she believes in? Obama is a heck of a lot better than Bush was! (And I'm a Republican! BTW--Arnold is a great Governor, especially considering he entered office without political experience. He's doing an amazing job despite extremely trying circumstances. You kinda have to live here in California to understand how difficult it is.) Personally, I think SJP carried the entire show SATC--after all, it's written from her viewpoint and her running narrative and writing in her column define the entire series. She's obviously the main character, despite the ensemble cast; and the focus of the show. I doubt SATC would have been successful without her. Her acting is superb for that character, and it just wouldn't BE SATC without SJP playing Carrie Bradshaw. She does it perfectly. The other principle actors are all great and perfectly cast as well, but lets face it- Sarah Jessica Parker carries that program.

I was really happy with Charlotte being able to have a baby! She's wanted to throughout the entire sequel, so that was great! And I think they all looked fabulous style wise, especially Carrie. Does anyone know for sure there is going to be a sequel and when it will be out?

As much as i wanted Big and Carrie to be married, i didnt think they were fit for each other. Big is a guy you'll always like, but two of you will never fit for each other. :/ on a happier note, i loooove the way Carrie dresses! she never disappoints me with her clothing style! very new yorker and high class :D. theres a lot of cute pictures of Carrie Bradshaw's fashion wardrobe

Watched the movie for the first time last week. Big and Carrie should have never married. I am so happy that Samantha left Smith. I was hoping that Charlotte and Miranda would divorce Harry and Steve, but no such luck. Maybe in the sequel!

Not in this case. Sarah Jessica is being boycotted because of her vocal support for a certain candidate, which this poster does not agree with. So the poster is boycotting her products? Personally, I don't give a shit about who buys what from whom or why. I just disagree with the principle of boycotting a celebrity for merely doing exactly what many soldiers in this country have fought and DIED for - freedom of speech. Remember, just about a hundred or so years ago, women didn't have a voice in politics, never mind being able to express an opinion about an issue or a candidate. The fact that Sarah is honoring those women who fought to get her the right to have a voice is a pretty big deal for me, even if I didn't agree with her political views. But again, I think it's totally hysterical that the above poster said she wouldn't shell out $8 to see a movie of Ssarah's but instead would pay more for the DVD, knowing Sarah still gets a share of the revenues! If you truly were against her and her views and opinions, a true boycott would be more appropriate. -- My therapist asked if my family was always dramatic. Of course we are. But then if a celebrity has the right to voice their opinions through the media and reach many people with their message, the public has the right to reject their product for whatever reason they see fit. It works both ways. Even if the reason is because they disagree with the political agenda of the celebrity and their manner of vocalizing their beliefs. Some people are put off by others trying to persuede them over to another agebda. Especially from a high profile person. One who feels his celebrity should have an impact on people's opinions. Annoying. So they have the right to promote anything or anyone they wish but we also have the right to resent their intrusion and reject their business.

Another thing: to boycott a celeb's movies, products, what have you simply because that person chose to utilize his or her First Amendright rights, or because you don't approve of his or her candidate's choice, kinda defeats the purpose of living in a democracy. Now, if a performer did something you find morally reprehensible, like used a racial slur or hurt a child or an animal or tried to infringe on the rights of others, then I'd respect the boycott decision a lot more. In the case you're describing it seems to appear that you don't really understand the whole democracy and freedom thing we have here. -- My therapist asked if my family was always dramatic. LOL! yeah, those are really righteous standards when you figure a movie ticket cost $8 for one viewing and a DVD is $20 for as many times to watch as you want. And that she gets a cut of every purchase anyway. Sheesh. She'll REALLY suffer in the pocketbook if everyone blows off her next movie and just buys the DVD instead. THAT'LL teach her not to open up her pretty little mouth about her politics, won't it? -- My therapist asked if my family was always dramatic. Of course we are. > Sure they have every right to do so, but is their > opinion any more important than any other citizen? > That's my point. Of course it's not more important. But I'm tired of reading that celebs who utilize their freedom of speech should 'just shut up' simply because they are indeed in the public eye. It goes against everything we stand for in this country. > Just because it is Oprah or Springsteen who endorses > a particular candidate, does that make it the right > choice? Again, of course not. Just like it's not always right for those like Heston and Schilling who openly endorse (d) the Republican ticket so vehemently. There have been times I silently wished Curt would shove his whole staunch Chirstian Conservative rhetoric, but it's his right to express his views as he wishes. > Sure people can decide for themselves, but the whole > spectacle and the glitz is annoying somehow. > I wonder if some are led to vote a particular way > because they admire the celebrity? Seems illogical, > doesn't it? Again, if a large number American voters are that easily swayed by a certain celebrity, I think we certainly do have a serious issue on our hands. I personally think the majority of Americans are pretty much already decided one way or another to one side from an early age, based on their family valaues and upbringing. I like to think most of us can decide for ourselves whqt the right choice is regardless if a celeb gets up and stumps for a certyain candidate. > It seems they assume their celebrity gives them a > right to try to change opinions. It works the > opposite for me and I find it presumptuous. Don't we all view ourselves as having the ability to influence people when we express our opinions? I see it simply as the celebs exercising their First Amendment rights. Nothing more or less. To give them any more 'power' than that IS indeed giving them a power that they don't and shouldn't have. -- My therapist asked if my family was always dramatic. Of course we are. Just all wrong for that > movie. Not my favorite SJP movie. I thought she was very wooden. She does better with comedic roles, imo. I don't think she makes a good dramatic actress. I liked Honeymoon Vegas or Miami Rhapsody. But there are those that would disagree. I think she was nominated for an award for Family Stone.

Sure they have every right to do so, but is their opinion any more important than any other citizen? That's my point. Just because it is Oprah or Springsteen who endorses a particular candidate, does that make it the right choice? Sure people can decide for themselves, but the whole spectacle and the glitz is annoying somehow. I wonder if some are led to vote a particular way because they admire the celebrity? Seems illogical, doesn't it? It seems they assume their celebrity gives them a right to try to change opinions. It works the opposite for me and I find it presumptuous.

Celebrities, be they Sarah Jessica, Oprah, George Clooney, Kid Rock, Charlton Heston (RIP), Curt Schilling or Bruce Springsteen, are American citizens and are afforded the right to voice their political opinions as they see fit. They have a right to publicly endorse their candidate as vociferously as they wish in order to further his candidacy. We don't have to agree or diosagree with them. We don't have to even listen to them. If an American citizen chooses to vote for a candidate because a certain celebrity endorses him, theat is quite ridiculous, but we cannot and should not disparage those in the public eye for stating their views as American citizens. -- My therapist asked if my family was always dramatic.
