So I am wondering if you could help me out, and tell me: - What makes you a real fan of SATC? What activities you do make you a fan? - What makes you a distinction from fans of other programs? Hope you all will reply, thanks in advance! Deborah

Hi Deborah, I'm Meghan. I consider myself a true fan of SATC. I have seen every episode, from start to finish, about 30 times each. I can hear a line from any episode and describe the plot line of that particular episode, along with probably two episodes leading up to, and following that episode. When I go shopping I think "Carrie would wear that." or "Charlotte would die before being seen in that." I sometimes see clothes that I can relate to a certain episode. I often find myself thinking "WWCD? (What would Carrie do?) or "How would Miranda handle this?" My favorite drink (which I discovered before I started watching) is a cosmopolitan. I have two gay best friends, one who is similar to Stanford, and one who is more like Anthony. I can find qualities of each of the girls in myself. I truly love this show for what it did for women in the late '90s and early '00s. Finally a show depicting 'real-life' women, career women, ladies who didn't just graduate high school and get married and start a human factory. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it's not realistic for women nowadays. I'm an ultimate fan of SATC and I always will be. I'll have more to tell in two weeks when I see the movie. Hope this helps.

I get melancholy thinking of Hill Street Blues...I remember plopping down on the couch next to my Dad to watch it, with a big bowl of popcorn. He loved that show. > As for "Boston Legal"~ I can't really get into this > show. > It's too funny, they play the "law" for jokes~Denny > Craine, > walking around the office in his > underwear~Oh,Please!!!! LOLOL yeah it takes some getting used to see William Shatner is his underpants! I guess for me I like the comic relief aspect of a show that doesn't take itself too seriously, just my personal preference I guess. I also have the hots for James Spader big time, so, you know.... -- ********* Host_Ginna HBO Forums Host

Ginna: there are four former "legal shows" that I've watched from beginning to end. They are: LA LAW The Practice NYPD Hill Street Blues As for "Boston Legal"~ I can't really get into this show. It's too funny, they play the "law" for jokes~Denny Craine, walking around the office in his underwear~Oh,Please!!!! "LALaw, was one of the first really good ensamble cast shows~ that had actors like Jimmy Smits,Harry Hamlin, Susan Dey,John Spencer, late of the West Wing. Jimmy Smits went from LaLaw to NYPD.

I consider myself a fan, (or admirer) of SATC. I enjoy any series or film that is groundbreaking...breaks the trend, and SATC did this, for it's, "Warm, engaging, honest and funny women." I rarely participate in this board forum, yet own the series and have viewed it with family. Appreciation and enjoyment are enough for me! (Sops, Six Feet Under, and Lost are on series list, not too bad HBO has three out of four

Honeybo/Deborah: Go to the "SATC Spinoff" thread, there you will find a whole load of posts # 16-29 that deal with other shows that are popular~ CSI, ER, Law & Order, to name afew. I was also a major watcher of the show "NYPDBlue" when it was on the air~One of it's stars was David Caruso, who chose to leave early on~ He's now on CSI:Miami, playing the part of "Horatio Cane".

Thanks so much you two for replying on my question! Of course I will also check the archives of this forum, but it is nice to talk for myself with fans! I meant by 'other shows', shows who are also very popular, and have a lot of fans, like 'lost', 'heroes', 'prison break', but also 'friends' or 'ER'. And by 'activities' I meant that you might buy Carrie-dresses, shoes, or, like you said, think what Carrie would have done in a certain situation. But your ansewers were very helpful and satisfying! And indeed, Florence is wonderful, I am actually Dutch, from Amsterdam, but enjoy living here very much, the language, the art, and ofcourse the food.. And in this time of year also the weather! Saluti! Bo

a real fan of stac means that they remeber episodes off the top of there head. a real fan has watched all the episodes a number of times and when in trouble thinks what would carrie etc do...... a real fan i think is someone who knows the show inside out satc fans are different to other fans as satc is a program which is about real life situations in whcih people relate to thats why the fans are there they relate to whats going on and feel a part of the program it's like watchin real life -- I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!

Honeybo/Deborah: Nice to meet you. You really should've been here afew years ago when the show was at it's peak, I'm talking about the years 2003-2004. That was when there were many more posters here. I'm one of the "old timers"~ I've been here since 12/9/2002 as you can see by the date near my name, and the number of posts. I simply loved the show~some of the storylines were very close to my life. Charlotte converting to Judism to marry Harry Goldenblatt out of love~that was my late parents story. And their adopting a child. I was adopted when I was a baby. You asked "what activities makes you a real fan" I would say what makes one a real fan is if one watched each and every episode of the show from start to finale. I watched each and every episode~ on HBO when it was "First run~with all the sex, dirty language" I won't watch the show on TBS where it has be sanitised/cleaned up. In my book those episodes are horrible!!" I really can't tell you what makes the distinction between a fan of SATC and other shows~ What other shows are you asking about?? Cable or regular television?? Dramas or Comedies? You never stated. When I watch a show be it on Cable or regular television I try to watch each and every episode of the show, from start to finish, for the life of that show. I'll give you an example~ I've watched every episode of the show "ER"~ the show that George Clooney used to be on. I'll watch it till the finale. That will be sometime in 2009. Hope that you do well on your paper~ you're in one of my favourite cities on the planet~ Florence, Italy! I could get lost in the museumes of Italy~ and I love the food of Italy! I'm Italian, and my parents took me to Italy back in 1973~ We were only there for 4 days and only in Rome, I've always said I wanted to return~ My husband "owes me a trip"!!!! As I'm typing this I'm looking at a photo of my goddaughter that was taken in Rome~ "A classic beauty in among classic architecture"..... If you need any info for your paper I suggest that you go and read some of the post that are in the SATC Archives.
