Scout the dog...

Can anyone please tell me if you know why Steve named his dog Scout and does it have anything to do with the movie 'To Kill a Mockingbird'?

Thanks :)

Hey thanks :) So far so good. New owners have all checked back, letting me know how great it is working out. I just had to be sure, and if they thought I was crazy, so what! LOL

It's great that you do everything you possibly can to make sure that the puppies went to loving, honest homes! That's the way it should always be. I love how you had them come over and play and bond with them to make absolutely certain they were ready. That's fantastic!

I hope everything went well! :)

I never had luck with adoption day stuff...always ended up with pets that already had bad habits. I have a wonderful traditional (fuller-bodied, not the skinny type) Siamese Blue Point male (got him as a kitten) and he is one cool dude now. Not quite a cat in many ways but not a dog either. Ha! He actually goes out on walks on a leash...but he walks me, not the other way around. Is about 14 pounds (no fat) and smart and sweet, too. I stay in touch with the breeder and she sends me photos of all the new little ones that are born.

OMG they are just so cute especially the babies. I am such a sucker for the babies! So little and soft and silky and sweet. Oh and they have the cutest little barks and meows! I have to pry myself away and breath a sigh of relief after I get outside,

LOL I know that feeling well, beachy! Somehow I often have the *luck* of going to the pet store for whatever reason, and it's "adoption day"! I already have a dog and 4 cats, plus an adopted furbaby; my daughter was given a golden retriever as a gift from her fiance a couple of weeks ago. Adoption day comes around and I have to do a little chant in my head: "Your fiance will kill you, your fiance will kill you, walk away walk away!" LOLOL ;)

Merce, yep, it's Pete. Stand corrected on that one. You got the scene I had in mind though.

That was a terrific episode, and one of my favorites! My favorite line is when Carrie speculates on getting Big and Aidan together, Miranda asks her "did you have a big plate of crazy for lunch?" ROFLOL!

Thanks for remembering that episode, but just a teeny correction....It was Aidan's dog Pete that bit Big on the rear, not Scout. Aidan referred to himself as the Green Hornet and Pete was Cato! And Big was Batman.

Merce, Scout's a great name, I agree. Recall in the series where Aidan tells Carrie that Scout would help him defeat Big, this is when Big keeps calling and Aidan and Carrie are living together. Aidan talks in terms of superheroes. Carrie rolls her eyes. Then when Big says he has to see Carrie when she and Aidan are at Aidan's house in the woods/mountains, Big comes to get his wounds taken care of after a recent break-up. They end up in a fight and Carrie yells "you're middle-aged men" which was hilarious. Then Scout bites the hell out of Big and that ends it. Aidan wasn't talking BS was he? Hilarious.

I love the name Scout for a dog! Last winter I found a pit bull puppy tied to a fence near my home. I brought him in for the night so he wouldn't freeze to death, and tried to find his original owner. Our area has a lot of illegal dog fighting, so I was cautious in my efforts. No luck finding his owner and I thought about keeping him, but he was scaring my old cat to death and I am away at work for hours, and this pup needed training. Eventually I found a rescue group that took him in and they were angels from heaven. I was so happy to find a good place for him. They are fostering him and looking for a permanent home. I wanted to call him Scout, but my husband thought he was a "Bandit" because he stole our hearts! I eventually took one of the rescue groups' old, displaced dogs into my home and she fits in very well. Her owners had lost their home and had no place to stay themselves, and they gave her away. She is 11 years old and we love her completely! I wish all dogs and cats had a good home where they would be loved as they deserve.
