Hey 2302W25, I like reading your posts. Your wisdom is a star in the night sky.

Just my two cents, though - I think some posturing is good. Remember when Michael Hall's character threatens Kroener Industries rather ambiguously? Or Claire's recent inappropriate moments of candor at the dinner table? This show really takes a unique look at when what someone is feeling is not what they should be saying.

I read something interesting on a gay spirituality board months ago about Douglas Faneuil, the guy who testified against Martha Stewart. It said that Faneuil's decision to reverse his silence and testify against Stewart was motivated by the fact that he came from a compelling culture of honesty that exists in the gay community - a culture that has its birth in each individual's choice to come out. Maybe its because I from Seattle, but I think gay culture would benefit from some formality.

btw - I googled your statement earlier about how gay men might begin the process of being a relationship by "hook, crook or shrinkage" and found nothing. Did you coin that?

You're right 2302W25. It's just people. All different. That is a worthy goal, though, not to posture for anyone. It is so exhausting. That is what I see and envy in some gay women - they are just who they are. And straight women are so programmed to worry and try to please and, yes, posture. Grist for the mill.

Mitzi-

Yucky! I saw the documentary you're talking about...it grossed me out for a LONG ASS time everytime I thought about slicing beef....Anyways, I didn't have a problem with how people acted about it, he killed someone....he deserved to be made fun of,etc...If he hadn't killed anyone, he wouldn't have been executed, then he wouldn't have been treated disrespectfully, etc...Just my opinion

CLAD: Apropos your post, did anyone else see the documentary about the convict's body being used for science? I can't remember if it was on HBO or IFC, but it was one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen in a film.

This guy was on death row and he donated his body to science. They showed his frozen body and it was being dissected by being sawed off a bit at a time width-wise and then the top was photographed. They went through his whole body top to bottom. It created a video traveling through the human body top to bottom for anatomy purposes.

But the people doing it were talking and laughing around his frozen corpse. It seemed so inappropriate. This was a human being. I feel there ought to have been an attitude of sensitivity. It was awful.

I can't remember the name of the film. The guy didn't know his body would be used this way.

Guilty as charged SFF. Mizi, you just have to trust me on this one and heed SFF's Warning. It will save you a lot of grief.

Just thought I'd throw in my two cents about George and his cheapness...

I just looked up Net Pots and guess what? They're like $18.00 ...HELLO? This is your step son, buy something a little nicer!!! Ok and if George had to get the Neti Pot, he could have also included a 1 lb. bag of sea salt for $9.95 and an antiseptic "Neti Pot" cleaner for $8.94 all of those things together, would have made it a nicer gift.... Not that I want a Neti Pot, but if I got one, I would also like the accessories that go with it....

Ok, apparently I am exceedingly BORED, waiting for 6:00 to watch SFU with the East Coast feed!

HI everyone! I read about this site in this Friday's USA Today and I went and checked it out. If anyone is interested in "funeral history" check out this site:
http://www.nmfh.org They even have the line "Any Day Above Ground is a Good One" from this season's posters on their main page. It's kind of interesting in a weird way. Then again, I've also been reading Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach since I saw it on the show, Michaela, the NOT ghost girl was holding it. I had almost checked it out earlier that week from the library, then the Monday after it was on an ep. I checked it out. It's actually made me rethink how I want to go. I used to want to be cremated, now I'm thinking bury me in the backyard. OY! :|

You're free to do what you want to, but if people would just ignore then then they would stop doing it. That practice was common on this board a few years ago, but then the people who started answering the bullies became just as annoying as the bullies themselves, and this board lost a lot of good posters who only wanted to discuss the show and what it says about life. Those bullies only want to get a response, they live for it, that's the only reason they write the things that they do, by responding to them you are only making their day, and taking up space that could be used talking about the show.

I have been going back and forth in my mind about the posters who bother most of us with certain comments and personal attacks. I mean ones like Legio, Isyou. Sometimes I feel sorry for them, other times I am angry at them. Also, I realize there are things in life over which I have no control. And this month has been my first time ever posting anywhere.

Now something has occurred to me. Probably it is obvious to others. But worth stating. These posters are BULLIES. Bullies are insecure cowards who take pleasure in tormenting others. What more perfect avenue to bully others than an anonymous board? Disrupting our discussions, saying hateful things, making mean personal attacks. Of course, HBO has their email address and I suppose the authorities could track them down if they wanted to.

As someone who has experienced bullying by narcissistic and sadistic adults, I won't feel bad anymore about speaking up and denouncing this bullying. So more feeling sorry. Their manipulative self-descriptions are most likely lies.

Back to our program....

I think it's just there to clue us in on George's concerns and his political attitudes.
"Perfectly Legal" is about the ways corporations and the super-rich evade taxes, passing that burden on to the rest of us. It's a book that could get your blood boiling if you make less than $400,000 a year.

George definitely isn't super-rich. I think what's really going on with this, is that George is so concerned about lies in the government, and situations of national and historical significance, but he's not willing to clean his own closet.

It's like that woman in Sex, Lies, and Videotape who constantly worried about pollution, and things she couldn't control, because she wasn't willing to address what she could control.
