I wish they had incorporated Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man" into the show's music.

I can't describe it, but the haunting gossamer qualitiy of that song just fits beautifully with SFU's schtick.

Hi Guys,

I just watched the final season on DVD, having been sidetracked by other things when it originally aired, and I must say after watching the Series Finale tonight, it totally depressed the hell out of me! I could deal with Nate dying, and the other heavy stuff, but I was truly saddened and moved to tears by the future sequences when Claire was driving away at the end in her Prius. So much so, I really wish I hadn't watched this Series Finale, because it was just too depressing and I much rather have had them fade out to my imagination of what happened to them. I totally understand the shows director stated they did this so that there would never be any future shows, but I really think it was just awful to see all your favorite characters die. Yes the theme of the show Is death after all, but come on, give the fans something to cling to.

The scene that really made me pull out my tissue and stays with me was seeing Claires wall full of the pictures she took, and then seeing her old and shriveled, as she lay on her deathbed, alone, without any family. Second would be seeing the look on Ruth's face as she looked at us and died. I'm sorry to be so sad here, but this really affected me, and I just wish the people who made this show hadn't been so brutal in the end and thought of the fans a little. I, like many of you, loved these characters, and I just think they deserved a better exit, both for themselves and especially for us the fans. I really don't think showing how each of your beloved characters died added anything to the show, except sadness. Am I alone in feeling this way? I know, I'm an emotional sap..but thank you for letting me vent here... =)

Greetings,

I believe the episode you are thinking about is the one in which Claire and her Art School friends are getting high in her bedroom. The band is "Death Cab For Cutie" and the song is titled "Transatlanticism." I hope this helps. That was one amazing scene.

Yours in the depths,

Searching for a song!

I am also looking for a song...

I wish I had found this site before watching Season 1-5! I am now trying to go back through every episode & looking at the music listed for each show - but it isn't helping.

I know part of the lyrics were..."Close to you..." It was a slow song - and a sad scene.

I feel like it was a scene where everyone was either singing the song together OR the song was playing and they were scanning from character to character (in their own setting/personal space) giving you the sense that they also wanted to be "close to you" or "closer to you". It is driving me insane and because I have watched so many DVDs in a row - I have no idea where to begin to look for it.

HI SilasAwaketh I'm pretty sure it was part of the score written by OMG I just forgot his name! It wasn't Thomas Newman, he only did the main score I think it was Richard Marvin? Is that it? He wrote all the other music you hear on the show.

Saw Lauren Amborse and Lilly Taylor in indy film, "Starting Out in the Evening". Ambrose plays a 20-something Brown grad perrforming thesis research with an aging, somewhat "has been" author, beautifully portrayed by Frank Langella. Ambrose was great. It's really nice to see SFU alum prospering. Hoepfully we'll see Frances Conroy, another gifted actor in a major role worthy of her talent in the future.

I felt very upset when in the fourth season Billy returned from Patagonia after getting "dysentery"...
the dysentery comes from water polluted, and any that really knows patagonia, will know that water down there is the most cristal clear and healthy water in the planet.
i think it was a very "unhappy" story, generated by the ignorance of the writer.
if it is possible resend this message to him.
bye!! and any way the show is great!

Hello!

There is a tune in "Six Feet Under", which has been played in 4 episodes, in all of the series (Seasons 1 -5). Please help me find it. Let me tell you when it is played.

Season 1 - Episode 1 - Pilot

Around the ending

Season 1 - Episode 2 - The Will

At the end of the episode, when David sits in the bus that killes his father, (with flashbacks).

Season 4 - Episode 11 - That's My Dog

When Jake asks David to close his eyes after putting gasoline on David, near the end of the episode. David has flashbacks of his life.

Season 4 - Episode 12 - Untitled

Start just after Hoyt has killed himself, and ends when Ruth wakes George up in his bomb-shelter. This time, the tune is a bit different, I mean, some other instrument has been used to play this tune this time, but the tune is the same.

Please help me find the name of this tune.

Thank you! :)

It didn't. I think esq1 was referring to the fifth and final season.

I watched the last 3 episodes of season 6 on the On Demand channel over the Thanksgiving holiday. Although I have seen them, particularly Everyone's Waiting, at least 3 times before, I still get emotional watching it. What a great series, cast, Alan Ball is a genius.
There will never be another show like this.

No prob -- Six Feet Under is an amazingly great piece of work. Dexter is great, too, different role for Michael C. Hall, to be sure, but very good. Enjoy!
