> I guess I assumed Harry was yacking from > the chemo he was going through. see...that's what i thought, too. not sure if it was chemo, though, as harry had a heart condition, didn't he, and not cancer? but i thought it was entirely possible it was med-related, and dex just jumped to conclusions. so, i just keep that doubt alive in the back of my mind. who knows, though? > Where's he been this season, anyways? good question. -- "i'm in pieces"

Ah, yes. I forgot about Harry catching Dex and then yacking. I guess I assumed Harry was yacking from the chemo he was going through. I had also thought something was fishy with the captain and that technicality bit. Where's he been this season, anyways? Thanks for clearing some of that up, Barb! -- ------------------------ "I won't be karma's bitch!!!!"

I guess Dexter is following his own code now, even though it's not clear what that is, exactly. The very first person he killed in the pilot episode was, in fact, a murderer, and his victims were young boys, but I don't think he was a priest, since he had a wife. Yes, the Cap told Dex that Harry killed himself. The wigging out was when Cap told Harry that one of their murder suspects got off on a technicality. Subsequently, Dex, thinking he was doing the right thing, went out and eliminated said suspect. Harry walked in on the kill scene, and lost his lunch. Dex concluded that Harry offed himself after witnessing, first hand, the monster in Dex that he, himself, nurtured. We don't know that this is really the reason, it's just what Dex surmised. That was the big reveal at the end of last season... that Harry was so repulsed by what he saw in Dexter, that he couldn't live with himself. Hence, off with the code. I feel there's more to it than that. Not that there is any evidence to the contrary, but I'm staying open to the possibility that Dexter read that all wrong. Isn't it possible that Harry was just becoming more seriously ill, and decided to end his life on his own terms? It would be quite the twist to eventually discover that Harry really was able to accept Dexter for what he was, and his suicide had nothing to do with it. If it really was suicide, that is. -- "i'm in pieces"

Heh! Loved the bit with the milk. And what's this about "going against his code"? The very first person he killed in the very first show was a child molester, wasn't it? A priest, maybe? What was it towards the end of last season that was going on with the Captain? Some old case Dex remembered the Cap'n coming over to the house and Harry wigging out. Didn't the Cap'n tell Dex that Harry killed himself? It's been so long I can't remember the specifics but I want it brought up again! -- ------------------------ "I won't be karma's bitch!!!!"

I didn't know Jimmy Smits had Dex's > knife, either. yes, freebo's blood. it wasn't dexter's knife. but it was the same knife that dexter used to kill oscar. the knife belonged to prado's (jimmy smits) father, who gave it to oscar... prado's brother, the one who dexter stabbed in the first episode. to prado, this helped cinch the fact that freebo killed oscar, even though, in fact, it was dexter. see? clear as mud. -- "i'm in pieces"

I don't know, Barbaloo. Since I missed the last few secs I dunno whose blood it even is! Is it safe to assume Freebo's? I didn't know Jimmy Smits had Dex's knife, either. (Can't member his name on the show, so he'll be referred to Jimmy Smits until a few more epis.) I need to see the rerun, apparently. Gah! -- ------------------------ "I won't be karma's bitch!!!!"

it was a little anvilicious. but could end up being nothing. for one thing, there won't be a body. everyone will believe freebo is still alive. prado's got the murder weapon with dex's fingerprints on it. but he can't turn dex in, without exposing himself, too. and he's really glad freebo's dead, and probably really glad he didn't have to do it himself. so, i guess they'll keep it covered up, until, you know, something happens to reveal that it did happen. maybe a body part drifts back to shore, or shows up inside the belly of a shark, or the blood stain on the shirt ends up in the wrong hands. but obviously, they're going to be BFFs for a while. could get interesting. how do you see it playing out? -- "i'm in pieces"

> Ha!! Actually in the books Rita isn't preggers. ahhhh! okay. then the writers just came up with it on their own. they must have felt that having all those other challenges in his life just weren't quite enough. > The third book is a deeper look into his psyche, it's > different in the other two (less humor, etc.) And > actually in the third book (SPOILER AHEAD....) > Cody and Astor know something is "up" with Dexter and > they are curious and tend to have some of the same, > er, "tendencies." He's in the beginning stages of > teaching them, it appeared in the same way Harry > taught him. That's how it looked like how it was > gonna end up anyways. Guess I'll have to wait for > book 4. so, through osmosis, or just through proximity to a real live serial killer, astor and cody develop tendencies of their own? you have got to be kidding me. well, i hope it reads better than how it's playing in my head, cause that doesn't sound so good. no wonder they aren't following that plot from the book. i wonder how that would have played out on television? well, let's see what happens with the baby storyline. maybe it won't be so bad, and maybe (hopefully) it will bring some complex challenges, and (really hopefully) a lot of humor to this season. any season without lila is a good season. i don't miss doakes. well, sort of. but not really. i would have liked him a whole lot more if another actor played him. i just could not get past EK's sourpuss, pursed lipped, cartoonish portrayal. kinda ruined it for me. although i did like him much, much more toward the end, when he starting acting a bit more, oh, i don't know... human. -- "i'm in pieces"
