Incredible TV series

A few months ago , an acquaintance told me of a TV series some episodes of which he was going home to view with his girl-friend. It was "Six Feet Under" and he highly recommended it, and I kept the recommendation in mind. Recently, I came across the series in my local library and decided finally to check it out (having only recently purchased a DVD player). Well....WOW!! After seeing the first year's episodes, I am totally blown away by this incredible drama, a real work of art. So much of the series resonates deeply with me that it would too long to go over the many incredible scenes and dialogue that deeply moved me. And the humor is astonishing also. Well I can just go on and on. This is the best series since I started to watch the Sopranos a few years ago ( I'm playing catch-up there also ). I am deeply grateful to all the people who contributed to creating this drama, since it is about the only thing from the "outside world" that is getting through to me these days. It is making a difference in my life and I just can't wait to get back home to start watching the second season! Marco Ermacora Montreal

In the first episode of Season 2, I see a wedding band and engagement ring on Brenda's left hand, but they're clearly still living apart. Did I miss something in Season 1? What's up with this?

Since I just watched the show today, I can confirm that the episode showing Nate and his father with Death and Life playing Chinese Checkers is, in fact, Season 1, Ep. 1.

Does anyone know which number/name of episode it was in which Nate's father's ghost shows himself to Nate playing poker with the prostitute Death and other seedy characters?

thanks!

I just finished watching it. I have loved this show and the characters and for the first time since ET I'm still tearful.
Fabulous show - looking forward to watching Dexter now.

And now every time I have a dilemma I can see Nate sitting there talking sense to me !!! :) If only ...

You are not alone, the finale-as you know- culminates in a montage that is-IMHO, the greatest tear jerker that I have seen on a cable show ( although , the rooftop scene in season 2, episode 9 of True Blood is right up there).
Hang in there.

Marco, on behalf of all the veteran viewers-who watched the series from the first moment of broadcast, I would like to say welcome. Its good to know that even now, some 4 years after the series finale first aired back on Aug 28th 2005, that people are still being drawn to the series . It truly changed television. On a personal level, the show served to prepare me for loss in my own life that had not yet occurred; while prompting reflection upon the losses I had already lived through. Many of my friends that have seen the show have shared a similar experience.
I'm glad that you are with us; spread the word.

Robert

Hi, hey..I have the thing on tape and on DVD...let me check and get back to ya.
Bob

Ok RBinPerson, you're not going insane. I just ran my tape of the pilot from years ago, and I ran my DVD(the factory release) from a couple of years ago, and in both cases there was no white screen posting name , year of birth and death for Nathaniel Fisher Sr. His was apparently the only case where that wasn't done. There will be one occasion in the future - season III I think- where that white screen comes at the end of the episode, but I dont want to spoil it by saying more. Ok, well thats all there is thats fit to print.

I ran into Francis Conroy last Friday in the parking structure of Raleigh Studios, as she had just finished a screening of the film Provinces of Night. She plays Earl W. Brown's (SFU Biker funeral-season 2, "Dority"on Deadwood) mother. Earl wrote, Produced and acts in the film. Both she and Earl are very happy with the finished product.

Okay, I just started re-watching the series on DVD. I just watched the pilot from Season One. There was no white screen/name announcing Nathaniel Fisher's death after the hearse was hit by a bus.

Now, am I going crazy, but don't I remember this occurring when I first watched the broadcast of the pilot in 2001? All the episodes begin with a death and then the white screen/name. Didn't it also happen with Nathaniel Fisher? It's not on my DVD!

If I'm wrong, please tell me. Otherwise I'm thinking the DVD is defective or something. Or maybe I'm just remembering the episode wrong.

I watched this when it was on HBO. I was moving around and didn't catch one of the seasons and luckily i found on a yardsale website that someone was selling ALL of the seasons for dirt cheap and i had to have it. I just finished watching 5yrs of SFU in 3mths. I was so sad it was over again! I cried again! The end kills me but this show was genius. I suppose i'll keep my series so i can watch it again in another 4yrs :)

So, today I got to once again work with SFU's favorite Russian Nicoli, as Ed O'Ross made a guest appearance on The Closer. He looks the same, and was all smiles. He told me that since Six Feet, he has been busy doing a lot of voice oner work. The part he had on The Closer was quite small, but he didn't let that bother him.

Well I saw the last episode last night , and I felt so sad that there was no more to watch. Wow, I am just left practically speechless by the excellence of this TV series ( to repeat myself again). It has been my constant companion for the last month. It is like the show was an intimate and deep reflection of my soul, and I regularly heard and felt things from the show that I thought no one else experienced. Thus the deep connection to the characters and relief from a lot of loneliness. I mean, in the last two weeks, I would have flashes from scenes come back to me as I was experiencing some pretty intense stuff. It was uncanny .That really helped. For instance, when Lisa quit her job at that rich person's house, she said that she was tired of having her boss,s "insanity" pitched at her. Boom! That flashed in my mind instantly as my alcoholic mother raged at me for some stupid thing. Pretty intense. Damm, I miss all the characters a lot already. Marco
